No girls I know - I and my female friends probably aren't fulfilling the housewife stereotype very well. I can't recall I have ever washed a dish after using it. Usually, I don't usually eat at plates at home so I actually don't wash them before use very often either.posted by HLD
Girls was dishes after they use them. Guys wash dishes before they use them.
I haven't seen any studies in the area, so I don't know any representative statisticsOriginally posted by HighLordDave
It's not an issue of fulfilling gender roles or stereotypes based on sex, it's a basic issue of human dignity. Generally speaking, girls have it, guys don't.

I've found that the tolerance of guys to put up with filth and squalor is far higher than that of girls. In my experience, when most girls get done cooking a meal for themselves, they will probably clean up soon after (usually after they're done eating and certainly before they go out to the clubs or go to bed). Guys on the other hand, will get done with their "single guy dinner" (often Hamburger Helper, Totino's frozen pizza, Stouffer's TV dinners, etc.) scrape any left overs into a Gladware container then set the skillet in the sink, where it will sit until either he (or one of his roommates) needs it again, or it gets up and washes itself.
As I've said before, there are exceptions, but by and large girls take much more pride in maintaining their living areas than guys do, and it shows.
This is what's known as the "Letting it soak" method of dishwashing, a favourite of teenage males everywhere.Originally posted by HLD

That's why I used the bathtub for my dishes (way back in my "single" days) ....I filled the tub with hot water & some soap piled the dirty stuff in and showered it of two days later....Originally posted by Ode to a Grasshopper
