Best Equipment?

Post by Lintelyg »

Alright. For those of you who have seen my last post: I chose to use an elven Kensai. And i just got out of Irencus' dungeon. I just wanted to ask you guys if you had any tips on equipment for my guy. Oh and for an Archer, too pls...
Thanx!!!

It's abit hard to say because I don't know how many stars you put in which proficiencyslots. The girdle of hill giant strength is usually not a bad thing, especially for a fighter type like your kensai.
As for the archer... well, uhm... arrows maybe? ;)

Like coot said it would really help to know what you put stars in, but for an archer if you have long bows a fairly good bow that is relatively easy to get is the elven court bow +3 in nalias keep. Also if you are a kensi you could get the boots of speed in the astral plane.

Amulet of 5% Magic Resistance? and cloak of the shield, they count a bit like normal armor...Im not sure Ive never played a Kensai but this is what i would assume... They cant wear any armour right?

Kensai equipment:
Swords of your choice...
Pale green ioun stone
Shield amulet
Boots of avoidance... later speed
Girdle of piercing...later strength
Ring of protection, regeneration, free action
Most importantly a party member that can cast spirit armour, imp invis, chaotic command, regeneration...

Eeek. Single weapons style is probably not the way to go. There are so many good weapons, many with effects just from wielding them, that you will do a lot better with dual wield in most situations. The one great katana in the game is celestial fury from the guarded compound in the temple district.

For archer head to windspear hills as early as you can to get the heartseeker (for longbow). The tuigan bow from the beastmaster in copper coronet is fantastic for archers. If you're wacky and chose crossbow then just go buy the firetooth from the guys at watchers keep. For sling its arlas from the fallen temple of amaunator. The black dragon scales would be the armor of choice for archer IMO (you cant wear red dragon right?). Doing level 1 of watchers early to get the quiver of plenty and the bandoleer thing would be a good idea. Bracers of archery would also be good (druid grove) until you can get the bracers of weapon expertise later on.

nothing wrong with fire tooth...

i sk minsc into archer, and he has grandmastery in both crossbow and long bow, and he does around 30-40 damage per hit with firetooth...

long bow is light machine gun, crossbow is heavy machine gun, shoots less bullets per minute, but htey really hurt...

greaterh whirlwind and mows them down...

get g deathblows, a few, you want to hold on to your g whirlwinds, and if you get frag grenades or arrows of detaonation, ha hahhhahahahahahhaaha, mow thme down...

heart seeker is good until you get to watchers keep, then comes the best long bow in game, tarlash for archers...

best short bow is still gesen bow, as good stats as darkfire, but electrical damage...

best armor will be either grandmaster armor or ice dragon scale...until you get black dragon scale, you should settle for aegirs hide armor...

you can only put 1 star in meelee, so pick two handed swords and halberds, you should switch QUICKLY from meelee to range using archers, so no screwing around with dual wield...put points in ranged weapons first...

use str belts to make up for thaco penalties using meelee weapons, helm of baldy works really well here. so do bracers of whatever weapons skills you can get...high dex and str a must...

archer is a great kit...think kensai level bonuses to hit and damage at high levels...minsc is so much better as an archer!!!
