mage to open Bhodi's lair-first encounter
mage to open Bhodi's lair-first encounter
I went to do this part and the mage and golem where there to open the door.
However, I found I needed more people with magic to do this area and went to change my party. Upon coming back with Edwin and Anomen the mage is not there?????
What is up??
This also happened when I went to get Jaheira......the Harper's do nithing, whereas when I went earlier (after she told me to meet her there) i was attacked and could not win.
Have I merely waited too long???

As long as the mage's golem opened the doors for you, there is no problem. The mage doesn't hang around.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

clarification
I went to do this quest and the mage/golem were there and opened the doors. Upon entering I found I could not defeat the vampires without more spell power so I left from the last auto save (entering the crypts) to go pick up Edwin and Anomen.
Going back in as though I had never been there with my newly formed party I find no one to open the door for me
Does that make more sense??? Is this a game bug that the NCP does not appear when he should or have I done something (wait too long although I doubt this as this is a major event/quest or is it due to the presence of a certain character???)

Do you have any mods installed?

try talking to the thiefters again
Ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies
"I'm invinceable"
"your a loony"
I'd rather be rich than stupid.
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

I lknow this part of the game is very bugged, have you tried reload a couple of times?
And I assume you have all the patches? if not get them here if you only have SoA and here if you have ToB

@Newt, I'm unclear about something. Are you saying you reloaded back to the point before you approached Bodhi, played for a good while, and tried again? Or are you saying that you simply left, came back later, and found the doors relocked?
And if you reply "Yes," I shall send a very large man named Guido to visit you at 3 AM.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
fable: From what I can see this is what happened:
1. Play the game normally
2. Get quest to fight Bodhi
3. Went to Graveyard
4. Went down to crypt - game autosave
5. Got mage to open door
6. Went through door
7. Found fights too hard, reload from 4.
4a. Went out of Graveyard
4b. Got some other people
4c. Went back to Graveyard
4d. Went down to crypt
# Problem, mage not there to open door.
As far as I can tell, this is a script problem, since I don't think there's a time limit on the mage appearing. A possibility is that the variable that triggers the mage was created before the autosave - but the mage have not yet appear. Therefore when you reload the game, the variable is already set - game thinks mage is already there, but he's not.
If you have CLUAConsole on, type the following: CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("FindLassal","AR0801",0) and press ENTER - while you're down in the crypt. The mage should appear after a while.
Turn CLUA on by opening the file called baldur.ini in the folder where you installed BG2. Add in the line Debug Mode=1 under [Program Options]. Save it and load your game, press CTRL + SPACE and type in the code above.

When you entered the Harper Hold with Jaheira, after she asked you to go with her there, were both of you visible? (Required for dialog) Do you have ToB installed?
