Hey,
first off, for those of you who helped me out on my last post, thanks a lot. I ended up having to get new CD's because the ones I had were scratched, and then reinstalling with them, importing the save folder, etc...
Its good now tho!
anyways, my new questions are:
I have done every single quest you can do before you go to the asylem. I have Nalia as my theif/mage and, as you can imagine, she is starting to get up there in level. I want to know is it really worth it to pick up Imoen at a much lower level? Also, I am ruling her keep, do I lose it if I dump her? What are the +'s and -'s to both?
Second, I have Edwin in my party, but a reputation of 19. As you know, he is an evil character. I have ToB installed and someone told me that in ToB evil characters won't leave your party because of reputation. Is this true? Will Edwin leave soon, especially if I hit 20?
Thanks so much

Evil characters won't leave you party if you are IN TOB, but even with TOB installed, if you are still in the SoA portion of the game, they can leave you.
As far as Nalia goes, if you have the keep, I believe you can still dump her and keep it. Imoens level will be somewhat higher than it was when she was taken from you, but I am not real sure how that works out as far as knowing the actual level she will be. Her thief skills are better than Nalia's I think, but honestly, I have never seen much difference between the two myself. I always take Imoen in the party, but that is personal preference. However.....

If you have a full party when you pick up Imoen, whoever you leave in Spellhold is there for the rest of the game. You can't get them back, as they stay there.

Highlight for spoiler:
There are a few exceptions to this. If you let Imoen join then immediately kick her out, she goes to the Copper Coronet. Jaheira, depending on how far you got with the Harper Plot, will return to the Harper Hold.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

so are there any real reasons to make me pick up Imoen? She is a better theif, but worse mage. Honestly, I would rather take the mage, however, I do not want to give up something in the story. I have played the game through before but I did it with Imoen. Does anybody know what happens if you do not have Imoen in your party?
Thanks

The question you seem to be asking is whether the game is still playable without Imoen. The answer is yes it is. Whether or not you like the results is purely a matter of preference.
Possible Spoiler:
There are some dialogues that Imoen has with Bhodi and Irenicus that obviously won't occur if she is not in your party, but these are optional.
