The triggering, here, would be for the health effect to go off when magicka reached zero. I could create things like that when I worked for DragonRealms, but I don't know that I can do it in Morrowind, and haven't been able to figure it out, yet. Maybe one of you bright young fantasy-based Einsteins will have a clue.
Is this weapon possible?

Is this weapon possible?
I was thinking it might be nice to have weapons in the game that possess triggered drawbacks--but is such a thing even possible? Consider: you get an absolutely extraordinary axe that raises your axe skill by 30, your strength by 10, and casts a moderately decent sanctuary spell, as well. The kicker? As soon as you equip it the thing drains your magicka like a sup pump, 15 seconds and it's gone; once your magicka hits zero, it starts draining your health at an only slightly lower rate. You wants to see da show, ya pays the price of da admission.

nope cant be done...
unless damage magika exists in the game, cant remember...
but yes, in theory you choose constatn effect, or caast when used, better, since you can add more effects, but
fortify skill???have yet to find that spell, been looking for it, so if you know if the spell exists, pls tell me...wait, a axw that casts bound axe on self might do the trick...
so fortify axe skill, if it exists, or bound axe, but will the other attribs work??time to test out....
fortify str, sure, no problem...
cast sanctuary, no problem...
then comes the kicker...you are best with damage magika, since all the spell absorbtions effects in game will GIVE back to you at end of duartion, sure you can have it set up to inflict on self, but it might loop the app...
so try this....
drop the fortify skill, no spell for that exists, i know of,
but have axe fortify str, and cast sanc when used, and add the effect...
damage magika, i think this spell effect does exist, on target self....
im pretty sure this is how game engine creates cursed items....
so this is a question...if a weapon that when activated causes a bound weapon to appear, has a fortify effect, does the fortify effect still happen when teh bound item replaces the weapon???
dont know, but probably not...
so no fortify skill exists in the game, since the only way i know of fortifying skill is with bound weapon, other wise, too damned powerful...

oopse, spoke too soon, realized how to make this item....
bound axe, for 120 or so seconds,
fortify str for 120 or so seconds,
cast sanctuary, for about 120 or so seconds....
damage magicka for 120 second duration, self!!!!
you get item, and use it....
it replaces, and casts 4 spells on you, and you are temporary boosted in str, axe and sanctuaried, but the spell drains your magicka while the axe boosts your combat, and it places itself in inventory while it recharges...
see what i am getting at???
a weapon with bound weapon on activate will jump into backpack, while it replaces itself with a bound weapon, but any fortification spells it comes with will cast at activation, so when the bound axe goes away your weapon is reequipped...
kinda silly, so weapons that summon bound weapons is a silly idea, except ebony staffs, since rings and shields have such a better charge...
get it???
with bound weapons, the items enchat charge is the cruicial factor, so best bound weapons items are rings, with its high enchant value...
my new
ring of maces
has bound mace for 120 seconds, and 120 second 16 point str fortify...

The problem I see is how to get the last spell, damage health on self, to trigger only when damage magicka leaves you with zero magicka. It seems as though all item spells on weapons in Morrowind trigger immediately upon use, unless of course the weapon is out of charges, in which case it triggers when more charges are stored up.
