Cannot create a multi-player game???

I have SOA with TOB and the patch installed. When I try to create a multi-player game the buttons are grayed out on the screen where you enter you new game name and password. Is this a bug? Wuz up?

I did a search...

and found some conflicting opinions. Do I need to register with and download the freeware from gamespy? If so, that is cheesy.

you have to enter a session name and password to get the ball rolling.

I tried that entering a session name and password but the buttons were still greyed out.
