@dragon wench:

The hostess returns! :) I meant to ask you yesterday what info you were researching at the univ. library. Are you debating someone?

I'll take my usual seat (not sitting on CE's couch, presently). And this time, instead of disco music, how about something just as nauseating - polka! :eek: !!!

@Georgi:

Did you enjoy CE's analysis of me? Rather entertaining, eh? :)

You know, you ought to move her couch into one of the rooms in here, the Home for the Deranged. It would fit perfectly! :p :D

Full of fascinating insights, as always :D

Hmmm. That might be beneficial... that way, she'd have shock treatment close at hand... :D

I am disappearing for a while, catch you later Chanak and CE ;)

@Chanak

lmao...polka :D :D *shudder*

I am doing a master's thesis in Canadian labour and gender history...roughly 1945-1955. Specifically, I am looking at how the role of womens' auxilliaries changed in industrial unions during that period. This week I found a couple of documents that confirm the hunch I had that the auxiliaries had a a far more overtly political role prior to the McCarthy era........

CE's analysis was most amusing... :D But to be safe you had better take Thantor's advice and be careful about sharing a couch with Gwally :D

What caused the decline during McCarthyism? To be honest, I rather enjoy history, but I enjoy antiquity more... :D I haven't done much studying of the modern era, save scientific advances and military developments.

Well...I need to be careful here....and there was undeniably all kinds of motivation behind it... But before the late forties, the Communists largely controlled the industrial labour unions..... and it appears....-although there are ambiguities-.....that the Reds were quite a lot more progressive about female political involvement than were their Social Democrat counterparts.....

I am quite interested in aniquity and medieval history ....but I have not done much in those areas :)

Hey, that's snazzy. :) Can you disappear in a cloud of multi-colored smoke?

Yeah, it's alot more fun... :D

Well...I need to be careful here....

Many things bring about change, whether they are viewed as "good," or "evil." Let's not forget, either, the Mafia's involvement in Labor Unions (particularly in the US). I probably ought to be careful about that one, as well... :eek: !!!

The effects of the vacuum created by the downfall of the western Roman empire are interesting to look into. Out of the Dark Ages emerged...some of history's most diabolical torture devices! :D

I am certainly not sharing couch with Gwally, I think Chanak was...not that Gwally isn't sweet, but it's against the ethics code between clinician and patient. :D

You're the clinician. Shouldn't you know? ;)

Why would that be strange?

No, because I'm not sure what the word means :o English is my 2nd language....
I suppose it isn't so strange after all....

My dilated pupils are back to normal and I feel just about right again!

Now, who should I annoy with my usual, bouncy self....? ;) :D

:eek: My deepest apologies. It means a practicing doctor. :)

You, being the doctor, you should know if I am deranged or not. :D

What do you do in RL? :)

Really? I'd like to know more about this.
Total confusion and misunderstanding :D :D I meant I don't know what "deranged" means, not "clinician". I know what a clinician is, although I'm not one :D

IRL I'm doing a PhD in neuroscience, human brain research, specialising in studying the serotonin system. My basic training is MSc in psychology, licenced shrink (spec neurospsychology, of course) :D and BSc in neuroscience. What do you do for a living?

Just read back in the pub threads - and some other threads as well - and look how the two love birds are filling up page after page.... :D

Hi @Aqua-chan!

I hope I didn't cause you too much undue discomfort last time. ;) Glad to see your pupils are back to normal. :D

LOL! :o

Deranged is a general term for being out of touch with reality...not normal. You know, not playing with a full deck of cards. :D

Sounds fascinating. :D That would explain your understanding of the nervous system in regards to the crazy "Beyond Toilet Walls" thread, where we got on the topic of lobsters feeling pain... :D

Right now? :D I'm working for an art supply firm, selling art supplies globally. I haven't achieved my real job yet, though. :) That job would be "published author." That is a tough road to follow.

Oh, I have. But what's with his behavior, though? :confused: :)
Thanks for explaining deranged, I thought it had something to do with "delusions" :D

It was several years ago I studies the nematode nervous system, and I think crustaceans were only briefly mentioned...I've been focused on the human brain for a long time now... :)

Pubished author, yes, I understand that is a very diffucult career road...I know a couple of people who are published authors, and I also know much time and effort they spent before they became published. Selling art doesn't sound too bad though, I imagine it must be quite interesting. :)

Oh, it's nothing with Dottie's behaviour, he's just playing difficult. And remember, he is Swedish. :D

EDIT: Must get some sleep now, I should actually work tomorrow unless I wish to spend all weekend at the lab. Good night to all.

LOL! :o :o :o (embarrassed beyond belief!)

It does, CE. In the medical profession of the old days, it meant just that - someone who is deranged suffers from delusions. Doctors also used to use the term "retarded" as well, though now you use other words, right?

I have to remember, too, that in the USA, the term has different meanings. (: p @Georgi)

That would be. :D However, we sell things for artists to use in making their artwork, not the artwork itself. :)

Not very glamorous, I'm afraid. But it is fun. :D
