Paladin question, help pls

I just started playing BG2 again after not playing for 6+ months. I've been using an undead hunter. When i use the raise dead spell (or maybe its animate dead), i get the little weeny skeletons, not the bigger skeletal warrior, even though i'm lvl 16 or 17. It says you get the skeletal warrior after lvl 15. Is this only for mages? It says it in the spell description in the paladin spells book though. Anybody know the answer to this? thx in advance.

Paladins can maximun achieve a spell level of 9. (which is in the manual)
Which means that even a 40th level paladin casts his priest spells as a 9th level cleric.
That's why you get the regular skeletons.
