Advice on party

Post by Nikk »

Me(undead Hunter)
Minsc
Aerie
Imoen

Now i want a good or nuetral party and i dont use magic that often so aerie and imoen can take care of magic.

what i really want is more 2 fighters, so that narrows my options down to Valygar, Keldorn, Jaheira or mazzy.
But i cant decide!! so any help and your opinion would be great

If equiped right, Jaheira can kick serious heinie. She also comes with some of the most interesting quests.
I never cared for Valygar or Keldorn as characters, but a stalker(Valygar) is IMHO a very good class. You have to give Valygar some serious (leather) armour though and provide him with another katana since he can't backstab with his. Celestial Fury is one of the best weapons in SoA so I'd give him that.
Also, Valygar gives you access to the Planar Sphere.
Keldorn is a slightly better tank than Valygar and you can equip him with Carsomyr (also a very powerful sword).
But since you'll have a fighter-heavy party maybe Mazzy complements your group best, since she's very good with bow & arrow.

All in all, If I had to choose I'd go for Jaheira and Mazzy.

Get Valygar and Keldon. Valygar is good for scouting and also a mini tank. Keldon is more or less useless but once you get carsoymr he becomes invincible.

If you are going to continue to TOB I recommend Jaheira instead of Keldorn. Her summoning abilities make her a far better more useful char in TOB

personally, i believe jaheira is a must - able to hold her own easily in a fight, able to use excellent armour and weaponry, and can summon elementals/elemental princes. What more do you need?

Keldorn's been called a lot of things, but I can't say I've ever heard him referred to as "useless."

Besides being the only NPC in the game able to wield Carsomyr, the Holy Avenger, Keldorn can also Dispel just about anything (Inquisitors use Dispel Magic at twice their actual level). As well, Keldorn can easily vanquish illusions of all types with his innate True Sight ability.

Most importantly, however, Keldorn has that whole Sean Connery thing going for him. I often put him at the forefront of my party so as to avoid having to listen to one of the many horrible voice sets available to PC's every time I select my party. :D

Seeing as he's an Undead Hunter himself, I don't think Keldorn gets to use Carsomyr.
But if you have ToB, that's another matter.
Minsc and your Paladin can tank good both, I believe, so I would go for Mazzy (nice extra abilities, very well for roleplaying issues as you're a Paladin, great with a bow)
and Jaheira or Valygar.
Jaheira for reasons already mentioned - she's an interesting character, and a druid that can stand her own in a fight.
Valygar for the scouting, the occational backstab and perhaps with a bow if you don't take Mazzy.

Fnord, you can always import some other voicepacks for your PC.
