The Special Edition DVD gives you the oppurtunity to watch it with both dubbing and subtitles at the same time. The option of also using the original dodgy dubbing with the english subtitles makes for great party conversations, well provided that the other persons know their Anime ;) :D

I know of a few Akira fans, we'll have to do that soon. You've got holidays pretty soon, don't you?

As promised I watched Spriggan today. And must unfortunatly report that imo its crap. Take the usual story about secret high-tech organisations, power armor, super beings, ancient thecnology that is able to destroy the world and some raving mad lunatics and add ... nothing. This is what you get. It holds the same "status quo is always best" type of moral that almost every other movie in this genre and it is the same stereotyped characters that clog my screen with their disgusting faces.. To but it simple - Stupid Boring and Predictable.

But if you enjoy stuff like NGE I guess you would probably have a different opinion... ;)

Thanks Dottie, I guess I'll avoid it then. Unless it comes to my video shop so I can then make my own opinion. I always feel uncomfortable buying something which I know very little about. ;)

Well, Like I said it is my opinion entirely, And I usally try to avoid giving recommendations as my taste is rarely shared. So If you really loved NGE or similar stuff dont listen to me at all. :)

@Dottie-Did you see the whole of the NGE series, including episodes 25 and 26? The idea there was anything but the "status quo is always the best" theme, considering that SPOILER (Tammy stop reading this until you've seen the series!) Shinji ended up being able to choose what became 'reality' in the last two episodes. The whole series was an exploration of the characters' psyches, and the Angels et al were only there as a justification for that. This is just my opinion, mind you. :)

No, I havnt seen the whole ending... But imo it doesnt work having 24 utterly boring episodes and then have another 2 boring episodes where you explaine that the other 24 was only a dream... Still you are correct I shouldnt judge the predictableness of NGE, But that wasnt my intention even if it might have sounded that way.

I just thought that if you were able to stand NGE then perhaps you think this is good too. :)

See what you would have done if it weren't for me? Now you'll be able to enjoy it more when you see it.

@Dottie-What did you think of Ghost in the Shell, out of curiousity?

Im not really sure... But the ones in the top are Wolf brigade, Grave of the fire flies and Metropolis (Though the original is still better) and GitS of course...

Mononoke Hime and Nausicaa are rather good as well, but not as the ones above.

Is Metropolis, Doomed Tokyo. The one in which a Japanese soldier from WW2 rises from the grave to bring forth armageddon?
