Tough match so far, lots of attacking by both teams. With Germanys bicycle kick almost making the highlight reel, except for the fact that he missed.
Korea was all over the Germans in the first twenty minutes, just continuely attacking, and surprisingly a role of reversals occured with Germany then settling themselves in, making some impressive crosses. I predict Germany to win, if they remain composed or if it drags out to a nil nil 90 minutes then Korea on penalties regardless of how good Khan is at the moment. The home ground advantage in that situation would just be too much.
Noooo, Ballack is out if germany goes to the finals! He got 2 yellows. Wait, update, Germany got a goal. Germany's got the lead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Germany vs. Korea: Germany won 1-0. Ballack got the goal, but is out because of a yellow card, so he's going to be missing the Finals. . SK played well in the 1st half but the Germany took over when they started to vary their plays. Then Germany just wasted time after the goal. Good game. I'm glad that Korea's luck, or should I say coffers, ran out. They deserved this. They had got too much help from the refs, but not this time. You can't get all the refs, can you Korea?

theres nothing wrong with have the world cup in East Asia! the Europeans and the Americans (south and north) get it too much. you have a problem with asians?

Arcane i think he is refering to the time zone issue.
If it were in his neck of the woods it would be night time for them and he could watch without skipping class.
Which would mean it is day time for East Asians, and someone is having a similar problem just like him.

Well done South Korea for putting up a stout fight. Germany however was better in every aspect. The goalie was especially superb. I can't wait to see the final match!!!
One word about this whole conspiracy thing: it existed in every World Cup. Take 1978 for instance, where Argentina had to win by 4 goals against Peru but exceeding all expectations scored SIX goals to win the championship.
When the ref blew the whistle, all players should have stopped. Koreans did. The Spainards continued playing, put the ball in the net, and then claimed conspiracy. I hope FIFA gets a better referring system so there are no doubts about decisions in the future.
As you know, I think Korea has gone even too far..
Anyway now I feel a little sorry for their people
who started dreaming about this!
Germany is really not like the old times, but who knows?
Sure other teams could have offered more in terms of fun.
I'd love a Brazil-Germany final, I think I would support
Germany after all, being european!
@Littiz: I also hope for a Germany-Brazil final...it would feel very strange with a final with none of the "great" teams. Whereas I have enjoyed the many surprises of this WC, and unexpected success for the underdog is always fun, I also think the closing stages of the WC would lack something if none of the classic teams still remained!
Originally posted by HighLordDave Has there been any discussion about using instant replay? It seems that would resolve some of the problems.
I think football is a fairly conservative sport, and FIFA is an extremely conservative organisation. As Nips says, there has been lot of discussions regarding the use of instant replay, but many people feel this would disturb the natural flaw of the game. Personally, I would prefer such disturbances before bad refeering of the kind we have seen in the WC - I worked well in hockey, so why not in football?

I didn't had the chance to watch today's (yesterdays semifinal) but i saw the highlights ... not much though . I would like to comment on Germany's performance. Even though Germany is not what is used to be somehow kept its well known profile like every competition. Once again they were very prepared for this game and managed to win it. I am going to see the other semifinal and i as well am looking forward for a Brazil - Germany final.

@Demis: I saw most of the game in the evening replay, and I agree with you on Germany's performance. South Korea played very well, but had problems with creating really dangerous situations around the German goal. Oliver Kahn also played excellent in the German goal.
Germany looked stable, organized and in control of the game most of the time - worthy winners although perhaps not the most exciting team to watch.
It deserves to be mentioned that the Swiss referee was excellent too!

The comentators really highlighted the fact that Ballack was left unguarded but only because he was left to attack from behind, with 2 pure strikers at the fromt, and in one attack he managed to score with a little bit of luck . As for Kahn i believe he is the best goalkeeper around and the WC is just a reward for him, he doesn't have to prove anything anymore.

They were never the exciting team and maybe that's why many people dislike Germany, i from the other hand like and respect Germany for that.

Well he is one of the top European refs, Meyer something right?

20 minutes until the Brazil-Turkey semifinal kicks off!

I absolutely agree. As you know, Beckenbauer has been surprisingly critical towards the German team, but even he said Kahn was the only player he wouldn't like to change.

They aren't as exciting to watch as many other teams, but I share your respect for Germany - the efficient team machinery and organisation is an art in itself. They would not be unworthy winners should they beat Brazil/Turkey in the final.
Well he is one of the top European refs, Meyer something right?
Yes, Urs Meier.

The first for the united Germany if so, West Germany won 3 I think. Personally I wanted to see an African nation as champions, but that was not to be either
1st half of Brazil-Turkey:
0-0, so far a good and entertaining game. Both teams play well, Turkey best in the beginning, Brazil taking over more and more. The Turkish goalkeeper Rushdu(sp?) has played excellent. Brazil had hare more chances, but Turkey has also had some dangeous chances.
Ronaldo looks slower and runs less than normally - perhaps he has problems with his thigh muscle injury?

I meant an unworthy winner of the world cup. Well i was cheering for Senegal, they were just so vibrant
