NWN and Crossing Over
with the recent success of NWN, how many of you are going to cross over to similar games such as the upcoming Icewind Dale 2? Will the promise of multiple PCs, and an enthralling story line distract you from all the NWN goodness, or are you sticking to what you know and riding NWN into the ground? I personally will change over to ID2 when it releases in august (you can only play this game so many times right? hehe) Just curious how strong an impact this game has had on people.

well don't forget that this game has endless potential on-line, I don't know about IWD2, but I think that one is more single player oriented. Besides most people won't be crossing over, but simply going back to the IWD setting. I would think that most people on this forum have played BG, BG2, TOB, and IWD. I might check it out, but not right away, I'll probably wait till all the reviews are in.

2nd or 3rd Edition rules
i'm also curious as to what people thought about the 3rd edition rules. Because of this characters weren't allowed to import their characters from BG1/2, and also turned alot of players off with it's new skill allocation point system. I personally prefer the 2nd Ed. rules of BG2/ID1, but i've grown to appreciate the new feats/skills available in 3Ed. We'll just have to see i guess.

I had ordered the collections edition IWD2 about two days before it was supposed to come out in May. I will probably play both, as NWN has almost unlimited playing and creating ability thanx to the DM.
IWD1 was easily my favorite to-date D&D game. BG1 & 2 were good, but not directed enough for me. Couldn't wait for both NWN and IWD2. Bought NWN as soon as it came out and have been having fun with it ever since. I just hope IWD2 is as good as NWN.
3E is definitely different. Having grown up on 2E and never switching over, its weird to do it, but its not too hard. I do like the way the group weapons together in a single type (Martial, Exotic) and such, but think it shouldn't be so general. A small blunt weapon is VERY different from a small edged weapon.

Collectors edition
hehe you definately get your money's worth with the collectors edition of IWD2. You get a bunch of character cards (i got a drow warrior, a dryder etc...) a map, a bonus CD and a few other things. I'm not sure what the CD does yet, cause you need the game to install it. (it does come with some nifty music from the game's fight scenes though) So my advice is to preorder!
