starting a character

Post by Executioner »

I am getting this game tomorrow and i want to be a sorceror but i am wondering first which race is better elf or human like are there awesome elf equipment ill miss if i choose human? also i want to be a chaotic evil character and if i did could i still have a 20 reputation? and would it affect the gameplay much like would npc's run away or would people not give me quest coz i am evil. I still want to go around saving people and stuff as that always earns you the most reward but i want to be evil doing it, can i do this? or should i just go good and be done with it. Whih is the best alignment to go good or evil and will i miss any awesome items if i choose a certain alignment or does every good item have an equal evil item

also being a sorceror can i still get the heavy armour feat and martial weapon feat? and is that just a waste of time for a sorceror? and stick with the old fashioned robe and staff because i thought it would be ool if you could have a powerful sorceror that if necissary could also get in on the action

I`m in chapter three and so long didnt come across any race specific equipment, so the only difference would be the stat modifiers at the time of creation of the character, the favored class (if the game takes it into account, which im not sure and im too lazy to check the manual ) :p and of course the extra feat and skill points human receive at that moment as well.

Regarding a sorcerer or wizard in heavy armor, you are right, you could end up acquiring the proficiency, providing you fulfill the prerequisites, but always have in mind the HUGE arcane spell failure percentage armors come with, which would mean having a heavily hindered spellcaster.

And finally, regarding alignment, I`m afraid there`s not much I can help you with, just have in mind that it can be shifted during the course of the game with your actions. For instance, my character is Lawful Good. I got 85 points in lawful, and 100 in good. BUT I remember killing some NPC which lowered the "good" points to 70-something, and then had to bring it back to 100 with things like refusing some rewards, etc...
No action seemed to change the "Lawful" points so far.

Good luck and have fun :)

What is the point of being evil anyway? That is just stupid. And if you are gonna be helping people anyway then just be good or nuetral.

Hmm...the Aslyferund Elven Chain is Elf-only...not sure where you get it though. Great for spellcasters...and with an elf you can have better Dex to start off with, great with light armour/robes.

Oh, and nothing in the game changes your place on the Law/Chaos axis. A bit silly, but still...

hmm i have played baldurs gate and icewind dale but from what i am hearing about 85 points lawful 100 good, i am a bit confused. I want to be chaotic evil simply because its cool instead of white robe of archmagi you get black robe and instead of talisman of pure good you get pure evil, i just want to know if i go chaotic evil can i simply play the game like i would be with a good character and only use the evil to wear evil items or if you are evil do you have to everynow and then kill someone or something? and if you dont does your alignment just change to good anyway defeating the point of starting evil

I was a LN rogue and tricked a guy out of all his money, being the persuasive and charismatic person that i am :) , and I became less LN and still havn't gained it back. However I do manage to persuade everyone to give me more $$$ so that might be it. Oh well, its a rogue's life...
