How did I miss this one, I tend to keep a close eye on the newer RPG's. So anyone have ideas what this is about.
@ Buck
On another note, why aren't the Arcanum and Lionheart forums in the Banshee games category. I'd guess it would cause to much hassle to move it then. Just curious as always.
The game is sort of like Arcanum in that it mixes science with magic. The background story is set in an alternative 12th century Europe. You meet famous figures from history like Richard the Lionheart. That's all I know rite now, hope it helps somewhat.

The game was announced during E3 i believe and it is related to Fallout games somehow, only this time the game will take place a long time before during the 12th century and BIS states that it will be very different from the other CRPGs. But you can learn more from the Official Site of the game.

Seems like it could be good, BIS are yet to produce a poor game, there will be lots of pressure from above to make this title a winner. We will have to wait and see.
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.
I spoke last year with a Sierra rep about the "abstract" quality of Arcanum's visuals being one of its main limitations--hardly anybody in the game had a face. He agreed with me and said that the next game they were negotiating with Troika for would have a much improved engine.
Now Sierra has been sold again, and it looks like the Troika team took the idea with 'em. Can't say I disagree: their games need a more "in your face" feeling, and you get that most easily by giving faces to your NPCs. I hear it's part of the package.

Originally posted by Ned Flanders The screenshots from the official site (thanks Demis) look pretty good. I read but forgot, is this a single playa or party oriented game.

I only hope their interactions are more like those of BG2 than Arcanum.

I think that this game could be as good as Fallout 1&2. I´m looking forward to it...but right now I think that the next game I´ll buy will be Icewind Dale 2. But still, I´m quite positive that Lionheart-a micsture of BG2 and Fallouts will be one of the best games I´ve ever played...we´ll just wait and see for now.
Lionheart will be a piece of crap. The developers have announced that combat will be real time with NO auto pause option. This means it will bear no resemblance to Fallout or Baldur's Gate.
I do look askance at the idea of realtime combat in such a game, since it removes all hope of strategy from combat, IMO. And what's the sense in having a bunch of feats and spells, if you can't effectively use 'em because you can't pause? I'd rather know that my character missed or hit, rather than that in the heat of the moment my character's failure was due to my inability to tap a moving 1 inch pixel.
On the other hand, I can't see anybody on that team of developers ever turning out "crap." Just because I'm not likely to enjoy the results doesn't qualify it as something which is objectively bad.

It is hard to imagine that something out of Black Isle will turn out as "crap". It seems that everything that has come out of Black Isle sinse Baldurs Gate I has been a very good game or even classic. Maybe you we are focusing to hard on the potential parts that will be disappointments. Maybe we should look forward to the parts of the game that could be potentially good. I know I will certainly look into the game.

CRPG's only work in turn based or simulated turn based mode. Arcanum used a horrible combat system which severely damaged what might otherwise have been a classic game. Real time is fine for shooters. But, a CRPG requires thought. I didn't say that any game that doesn't resemble Fallout or Baldur's Gate is a piece of crap. I was referring to Lionheart only, which is being marketed as a CRPG. It will be crap without auto pause. Neverwinter Nights suffers from the same problem. If these companies are going to clone Diablo, then be open about it. Don't lead people to believe that you are making a fantasy Fallout, and then deliver Diablo 3.

@Fable
Agreed, Black Isle has an amazing batting record (shot accuracy, pass completed percentage, etc.) right now.....
I must note that neither Pool Of Radiance nor Neverwinter Nights had a prerelease demo. I think that is very telling. Both had things to hide from consumers.
Isn't there any way to implement turn-based combats as well, like Fallout Tactics and Arcanum? And I don't get why some of you don't like Arcanum, I do play it turnbased.
