Another bug / problem.

Ok, so far I've been reading all the bugs experienced and have so far been lucky I've not encountered any - UNTIL NOW!

I ahve got as far as the opening room (reception area) of the Host Tower in Luskan, only to find my save games will now not load. None of them! Not even the one's before this point or the auto-saves! I just get the NWN.exe has enountered problems with WinXP with the send/don't send option to Monkeysoft!

Obviously I'm not too happy about having to restart the game from scratch, ahving got my character upto 13th level etc.

And help here on how to recover from this would be a help, in case it's any importance my system spec's are below. Up until this point I've not had any problems with the game.

NWN patched to 1.20
Windows XP Professional with all updates and patches.
AMD 1 Ghz cpu (NOT XP chip)
512meg SDRAM (2 x 256)
Chaintech 128meg GeForce3 ti200 with 29.42 drivers
Asus A7v133 mobo
Soundblaster Live1024

Any help much appreciated...... otherwise I think I shall just await Icewind Dale 2.....

I am experiencing the identical problem.

Last night I made it into Luskan. when I quit the game I got a blue screen and had to restart my computer. I figured it was just a basic blue screen so I did not get worried about it.....

Today, I loaded up NWN, and went through the preliminary screens. When I hit load, nothing happened and my computer froze. I rebooted my computer, ran scan disc a few times, and even restored my system to an earlier date....all to no avail.

Then, I made a copy of my save game folder and reinstalled the game. After all of this, I clicked on "new game"...lo and behold...the problem appeared to have fixed..... so I repasted my saved game into the save folder..... and again fired up NWN..... when I hit load...... the same thing occurred again.....

I suspect that there might be a problem with the Luskan section of my game.....

Any help would be appreciated.

I also encountered the intellectual devourer not spawning bug...but was able to deal with that by enabling the cheat code.

update:

okay...this is weird...

following a hunch...I pasted in a game save I made just before entering Luskan....... it loaded without a problem..... so I saved and quit...the game exited normally. Then I fired up the game again, and hit "load", successfully loading my new Luskan save....

So hopefully all will be fine.... I will also stay away from patches until the official 1.22 comes out, since my special abilities seem to be working again...

I can only assume that when my game crashed last night while quitting something somehow went wrong.......

Thoughts? Insights?

I'd say to try updating. I have the beta 1.22 patch and it works fine, although I'm not that far in the game. It's worth a try though.

Sorry, forgot to get back to this thread with a "progress report".

Basically when I updated to patch 1.21 I noticed one of the fixes was "reparing broken saves", I was skeptical but sure enough it worked for me.

Have not updated to 1.22 yet, and will not do until it's final/proper/non-beta release...
