Dark Flame Discussion Thread III (no spam)
In a discussion with Ysh (if I remember correctly -- these tavern discussions tend to be a bit blurry ), she asked if we might post the kinds of equipment our character uses. I hadn't done this before, so I basically just created whatever the hell I wanted. It was great!
So here goes...
Thantor's equipment (acquired over Thantor's long life and his association with Mielikki )
Helm of Inner Light: Protects against critical hits, Immunity to mind affecting spells, AC +2, Magical resistance 20%
Ring of Holiness: One extra cleric spell from level 1 to level 4
Ring of the Dove: Immunity to Disease and Poison, Regenerate 2 hit points/round
Belt of Frost Giant Strength: +5 Strength
Amulet of Gnosis: +3 Wisdom, cast Harm 3 times/day
Gauntlets of Dexterity: sets Dex to 18
Rainment of Mielikki: Mithril Elven chain +3, AC 10 (3rd edition style), weight reduction 40%, Universal save bonus +3, Free Action, each hit heals wearer 3 hit points. Can only be worn by Thantor.
Cadeusa's Bane: Modified twin maces that can be combined to Dire Mace (think Darth Maul's twin lightsabers in Phantom Menace). Stats: Dire Mace +3 (1d6/1d6), Stun 75%/ 3 rounds, Command Twin Hisslas per mace (8 hit point creatures, Poison, Invisibility once per day), double damage vs evil alignment plus saving throw at -4 or be destroyed.
Boots of Striding +5 as in NwN
Cloak of Synaesthesia: reflects offensive spell damage back to source (like Cloak of Mirrors), elemental resistance 30% (fire, cold, electrical, etc)
Bow of the Jaguar +4: Long Bow, unlimited ammo -- uses Phantom arrows (20% chance level drain, 1d6 electrical damage), two shots per round, Mighty +5
Staff of Command: Ability to Dominate/Charm as in NwN

- Dual wielding Katana of fire and ice - Made from the respective Salamanders.
- Celestial Mithril Full Plate Mail - Shiny metal armour, incredibly light and form fitting D ) it adds a bonus to Charisma and does not stop Monk abilities due to lightness.
- Bracers of Expertise - Raises dexterity due to the complex manuevers carried out in dual-wielding weapons. Increases skill in martial weapon.
- Woven Belt of Giant Strength - Woven from the hairs of many giants, it raises strength to a high degree.
- Fleet Foot Boots - Allows quick movement at will.
- Holy Symbol of Torm - Raises wisdom and limited spell ability.
- Fists.

Well, lets see, not much magical armor, as BS is paranoid, but
Years of captivity and torture has resutled in
High constitution level, along with a high tolerance for physical pain. He learned to mentally seperate himself from it
High Strength and Dex from being forced to train and battle in the Chambers pits.
Lowered charisma, no sense of social ettiquette
Magical resistances.
immune to hold, domination, anything that immobilizes or tries to take over his will, he loses it slightly when this happens though.
Confusion, charm, and such are not included in the immune list, they just warp his perception, so he is vulnerable. Time stop effects him, because it is an area effect type thing.
All other spells have affect, but cause pain
Lived in Icewind Dale for several years, and has high resistance to cold
Wields Striker, Bastard Sword that absobs and dissipates magical energy, removing protections such as Stoneshin. has no affect on spells like fireshield or Blade Barrier. Striker can cast Breach once every 2 days
Leather studded armor, throwing daggers etc.
Highly specialized with the bastard sword, almost the only weapon he ever uses. Has never used a bow, and has very poor skill with any other reanged weapon but the throwing daggers.

AC's heritage gives her a bonus to her dexterity and move silently abilities. Also, she is immune to Charm Person/Animal, Dire Charm and Hold Animal. However, she is very vulnerable to confusion spells.
Also, enemy cats for some reason refuse to attack AC, though they will still attack her allies. Sorry 'bout that.

Well since she has chaotic tendencies, DW has at least two sets of outer gear
Armour and Items:
Bladesinger Chainmail: provides a good armour class while allowing her to cast spells.
Hooded Copper Mage Cloak: This item, crafted from wool, silk and woven strands of copper, was given to DW by her mentor many years before she came across the women who would form the Dark Flames. It grants +3 to her armour class, protects her completely from all fire-based attacks (be it spells or weapons such as the flame blade), and doles out 1D6 fire damage to any enemy who ventures too close.
no helmet: DW hates helmets and would rather risk head wounds than wear one Yep...before anyone says it...this *is* exactly what happened.

Spiral Amulet: this small amulet made of ceramic and shaped like a shell grants DW +2 to her wisdom and reminds her of the intricacies that are the universal forces.

As far as the Dark Flame On-line story goes, I've never thought of Gwally as much of a clothes-horse (read: power gamer ). I figure he wears Leather +1 and standard boots, britches, shirt, etc. He has a pair of bracers that he and Viv (IIRC) made from the hide of a demon that he defeated at Ogre Falls. These give him an AC bonus, and resistance to acid.
His favored weapon is the semi-sentient club Louisville Slugger that is +4 and has a tendancy to shout out baseball aphorisms. Unfortunately, the club is currently recovering from wounds (can a weapon be wounded? ) received at the hands of Dragon Wench.
He also has a +3 sword of some sort, I forget what it was. I think I called it the Winter's Blade. It dealt a little cold damage. But its a moot point, since Gwally will soon lose it in the battle with the abomination.
His staff was cut from an old oak after he lost all his equipment to a doppleganger. I suspect that it has grown a slight affinity for him over time, and should be counted as +1 in his hands.
However, while playing NWN, Gwally has a lot more stuff....
