Saving throw progression

Post by bbq_pit »

I have a level 12 human Sorcerer and am not quite sure how his saving throws should be progressing.

Currently he has:

Fortitude: 6
Reflex: 7
Will: 7

(without any items, with items these scores are higher, and appear so on the character screen.)

My understanding was that the will saving throw should be higher. At level 12 the lower base save is +4, and the higher +8. (P179 of the manual.)

So it looks like the lower one has been added to ALL my base saves. Shouldn't the higher one have been added to my will save (i.e. making it 11)? Or is it added at roll time (i.e. as a check is made) but this seems unlikely, no?

If the higher one should have been added but hasn't for some reason what will be the consquences if I change it to its proper value (using dm_modifysavewill) and then change back Single Player Enforce Legal Characters to zero (in the ini file)?

Last question, sorcs and wizards out there, what are your saving throw values? Is it a global problem or is it just me?

Your base saves should be +4,+4,+8 if I remember correctly, but remember these saves are then changed by the modifer of the stat they are linked too. Your will saves are affected by your wisdom score, which I assume is less than 10, your dex affects your reflex saves and your con effects your fortitude saves.
It is best to be thought a fool and stay silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Game files say +4/+4/+8, so that's not where the problem is.

Find objects, line amulets, cloaks, rings and some armor that will add saving throw additions to your character. A few rings and amulets will allow you individually boost certan saving throws.

I have even found equipment that will give you universal saving throw benifits to all saving throws... quite helpful so you do not have to keep seitching rings and amulets thruout the game as the situation warants...
losing brain cells every toke...
