It's enough to become a vampire. You can consume raw components as well, just be aware of drawbacks, the potions are just the way to remove them. And, AFAIK, there is no other. So eat a portion of vampire dust and become the one :D , just be aware that you may go outdoors only at night, that almost nobody would talk with you, almost no merchant would trade with you and almost everybody will hunt you.

Contracting vampirism is simple enough - make sure your magic resistance is low enough (Bretons may need to lower it), go hit a vampire lair, and let a vampire hit you until the game gives you the message, "You have contracted Porphyric Hemophilia." Providing you don't imbibe a Cure Common Disease potion within 3 days, you'll become a vampire. I don't know if it's possible to become a vampire by eating Vampire Dust, since normally only the first effect of an ingredient does anything to you.

Check Morrowind After Dark - it provides some more info on vampirism.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

There exist an opinion that vampire is most powerfull character possible (i haven't tried so i am not sure). There are 3 vampire factions and 3 quest lines for a vampire, too, so there might be more adventures. Altogether if you're explorer-type, you'd eventually run into all 3 families anyway.
I'ts also curable (neither very easy nor too hard) and one should be immune to vampirism after that. I do not know if boosted features are preserved after curing. I guess also one might be expelled from some factions and lose some reputation. There are some mods softening the restrictions on communications with NPC and population, though. However, as i said, i never had a try.

I forgot to mention - you can't become a vampire once you've contracted corprus. Vampire pros/cons and how it changes your appearance: go here.

Depends on what you want out of the game. But since you can do both, and get yourself cured of vampirism in any case if you don't care for it, give it a shot and see if you like it.

Btw, a search on my username and the word vampire should bring up a number of additional old threads on the subject.

I just became a vampire and it's fun like hell! i had problems becoming one, because i didn't notice. I stood surronded by like 7 vampires with no armor and let them beat me. I eventually got a blood disease and rested for 3 days. then i talked to the quarra clan. I'm really strong with like 50 in most stats and 80-100 in some. I run fast like hell with full ebony armor. Also my eyes are totally white, hehe.
