yeah, but aerie when I pull up her info sheet has "highest level enemy killed....firkraag!!!"

my main sorc <Snip>
aerie had triple implosion in chian. cast greater acuity for fast reaction time, and had aerie and sorc dump triggers <snip>

unless you go mage cleric, your ultimate spell slinger, not caster is her.
For Aerie to cast improved alacrity (=greater acuity?) a 10th level mage spell, a spell trigger(8th level mage spell) with 3 implosions (quest level cleric spell) she would have to be at least a level 20 mage (7.4 Million exp) and a level 22 cleric (6.3 Million exp).

So let me get this straight - you are advising a player who is in Chapter 2 of Shadows of Amn that the best cleric to get is one with bugger all HP's who will (if you have TOB loaded) one day (after having sucked up almost every experience point available) be able to with assistance take down a dragon.

Aerie is well worth the investment but ANY character with 7.4 million exp can take down Firkragg with assistance.

I believe he meant his Sorceress cast Improved Alacrity, though I agree with the gist of your analysis anyway.

I find I have too much xcom and other turn based strategy gaming in me...rather than relish the rpg aspect of this game, i often treat like a excersize in optimization, for example, should I take this guy into this skill type, or sumit him into psy training? So I like looking at chars after I boosted their experince, so see what would happen if you looked at them up from the norm. anyway, isnt this topic "good vs evil npcs"? shouldnt you also look at the npcs tword the end of the game? or if you took the saradush spawn bug? the easiest and most lucrative xp exploit in the game...

User Unfriendly, I find your commitment to Aerie to be one of the best peices of BG2 role playing I have yet seen on these boards.

I believe that it has been comprehensively and sucessfully argued that the Evil NPC's are better (at all stages of the game) than the Good NPC's.

The main pro points are :-
better base stats
no 'split' classes

The main anti points are :-
multi class is better in TOB - Curdis

since we're talking about NPC's so much i was wondering if i could ask a question. i haven't finished the game yet and i kind of lost all my saved games when i was in chpt 4 (don't ask y i lost them..long story).

anyways......

what i like to do is in irenicus' dungeon u get alot of scrolls of spells. i like to make one mage learn all the spells in the game. which mage or cleric or anyone that can learn the most spells or all of them?

Any mage can learn every spell at every level. To get a high enough intellegence (19) you just have to drink enough potions (like one for all NPC mages) of Mind Focusing or Genius.

As to who should get spells first I establish a pecking order based on who is the highest level and they get first shot. When they get "you have learned the maximum no of spells for your intellegence" that scroll goes into their personal scroll case (every mage deserves their own scroll case) for learning once a potion is available.

Hope this helps (your question was kind of unclear) - Curdis - daern typooes

i saying who is the best mage or cleric to learn all the spells in the game. since u get aerie really early in the game u would expect her but is there a difference if i use viconia has the person to learn all the spells?

OK firewings95 I understand.

The simple answer is NO character can learn all the spells in the game.

Aerie can learn all the cleric and all the mage spells (Although it will be a while before she can cast the highest) but can't cast Druid spells.

Most people go with a spell caster to do mage spells (Edwin, Imoen, Nalia, Jan) and a spell caster to do Cleric spells (Anomem, Viconia, Jaheira, Cernd).

I know it is complicated! - Curdis
