Help! Solo can't get out of Chapter 2

Post by Gr'naash »

OK. I'm soloing SoA with a Kensai/Mage (currently lvl 9/11) and just went through D'Arnise Keep. Did it without any NPC's. Talked to Nalia before in the fort, went on my way and met her there again after killing Torgal. Went through the whole spiel about her father. Then was transferred to the main hall and she offered me the keep. I accepted, BUT... no gold, no XP, and when I leave the board I'm still in Chap 2. The clerk (I forget his name) gives me the keep lord dialogue and all Nalia does is ask if I want her join my party. Does this have anything to do with my dualing as a mage? I'd at least like to get my XP and gold reward.

Getting the Keep doesn't put you in chapter II. Paying the Shadowthieves does.
Getting the Keep doesn't give gold (or experience) in itself, apart from the stuff you found there. You get 500 per week from taxes though.

Thanks for the reply

Hmm... That's if you're not a fighter right? I thought non-fighters couldn't get the keep at all. Or is this a loophole (bug?) in dual classing? Since I dualled to a mage, can I still get the planar sphere as my stronghold?

I played as a thief dual-classed to a figher and got both the Arnise keep and the thieves stronghold. I think I got the thieves stronghold first but I'm not sure and I don't know if it works the other way round.
If I'm right this means you should be able to get the mage's stronghold as well.

Possible slight spoiler:

If you don't, there's always a fix-pack that let's you have all strongholds, whatever your class, but some would consider this cheating. That may be, but I like the figurines that come with the druid and ranger's quests. :)

you mean entering chapter 3 not 2. also you can pay the money to Bodhi to get into that chapter. the more of a warrior that your soloing guy is the easier it is. solo with an undead hunter first it's very easy. (but then again you've done so much with your current guy).
I'm soloing with a swashbuckler (thief) right now soon in the TOB section in a few days I'll post all of the evil acts that my evil swashbuckler did.
Remember, being Evil in Baldur's Gate 2 is VERY fun...

there is a way to get the planar sphere and the Keep, but you allready messed it up. what you have to do is do the entire keep quest, then leave WITHOUT speaking to Nalia, then go do the planar sphere, accept it, and then come and talk to nalia and pick up your keep.
