magical weapons exceeding +1?

Post by Magus Noctem »

My characters are tenth level and are still wielding +1 weapons. I've found a couple of +2 spears and other impractical weapons in shops, but I've not found anything else. Anyone else having the same experience? If you've played beyond tenth level and have progressed further into the game, at which point do the better weapons start showing up?

Mostly, chapter 5. There's a shop where you can up to +4 of everything.... although mostly very straight vanilla, no special abilities.

There are exceptions, though. Notably you can get very lucky by buying the decanter from Nym (if you have the bonus CD, otherwise it doesn't exist) before fellwood. It seems very possible to luck out on the occasional uber-item offered for sale through the decanter.

Well this is something I've always wondered. When you kill creatures or someone important the items you end up getting are they random. generated by some program within the game? in any event the majority of my group is 12th level and I have found some swords, maces, and flails....even long bows that are +2 with some cool bonuses and abilities to the weapon. I got theses by just killing creatures and people who are important to the game. But I agree it does take a while to find them. For me I guess I've been lucky. And didnt start to see the cooler items until I reached the ice palace of Auril and then from there it got better.

Much of the loot in the game is semi-random. Killing character X will result in dropping one of five specific items, for example.

Mostly, though, I think nearly all the 'super' items are to found only in Hear of Fury mode.
