Shania Twain and pop country music in general. Everytime I hear "Man I feel like a woman" I think carnival music - seriously - is there an organ grinder in her "band"?

Pop Country even beats out boy bands for most annoying and overated. How can people listen to this stuff?

"But Shania is hot dude" - fine - she's smoking - but that doesn't excuse the music. I can't see her when I am listening to the radio or a CD. Videos are another story though...

Robbie Williams, apart from providing the rather good Angel, his back catalogue is very poor, he seems to come along every so often with a decent pop tune but he is eminently detestable. He is also another artist who seems to be self involved...i see a pattern forming ;)

i'm dissapointed that everybody is voting for springsteen :( i don't want to get way off topic in this thread, maybe we can discuss it in another thread, but i feel that springsteen was an important person in rock because he spoke for the poor working class of america. it seems that the lower middle class really gets left out. you hear about the rich, the upper middle class and the incredibly poor with nothing to eat. but the lower middle class is not well represented in movies, music, pop culture and whatnot. and lots of people misunderstand his songs and think them patriotic while really he is critizing the government and speaking out agianst oppresion. anybody who thinks Born in the USA is a patriotic song ought to listen to it one more time, and pay attention, it doesn't sound like he's a very proud to be an american to me.

Thats the funny thing. I mean Regan selected the song to be the official song of his campaign, and then he realized what the song truly meant, and he was sorry for picking the song, as he was assuming that a song called "Born in the USA" would be patriotic. :D

Hmm

Over rated. Lets stop and think about that. Over rated to me means someone who gets more credit than what the actually did. Not just press because every month someone gets more press than someone else, its about over all legends... the guys you think back to and go "Wow they really did something for (enter genre)"

And since that is how I look at it the simple answer is for the genre (if you can call punk that) i love best and the most over rated band is....

Sex Pistols.

The first "punk band" claimed by many (I will declare Iggy and the Stooges punk and well before thier time) and they were MANUFACTURED just like all the lamo punk bands that are being cookie cut today. Just a bunch of no talent angry brits hooked on drugs. Sure John Lyndon might have some moments of insight but in reality he is just an angry brit with nothing better to do.

*Like recently reunite the band in the name of the holy buck*

Another one for George Michael, another entirely self involved artist with very little actual talent.
In defense of George Michael I must say that even if his musicial style is uninteresting, he has a fabulous voice, especially for jazz, and he can actually play every instrument in a band himself.

Now Shakira, that's an entirely different level of lacking talent :D

Hmmmmm.....have you ever heard any Wham! songs? Now that was a disaster. What makes it annoying was that they actually had hits. :D

Unfortunately I have, but they are too horrible to stand! Obviously he thought the same himself, judging from Freedom and the Sony music contract problems. When I defended him I was referring to his later solo career only...
