2 basic questions about soul trap and soul gems

Post by Minerva »

Could anyone help me following questions? Please keep in your mind, my mage is still very young.

1. Providing I have three soul gems in different sizes, say, petty, lesser and common; if I manage to soul trap something like a rat, will the soul be in the smallest gem , or it's at randam?

2. I've got a few petty soul gems (with souls in them). My enchant skill is 25, and I haven't got much money. Should I use them in order to practice my enchant skills, or is it better off selling them?

Thank you in advance. :)

1. The smallest soulstone, able to contain the soul of the creature, will be used.

2. I would use them for practice, but i have no experience in using the enchant skill, so i don't know how much they'll help.

hope it answers youre questions Minerva

Be very wary of attempting to make enchanted items.
Like making potions, you'll need to boost your Luck and Intelligence beforehand to achieve a better chance of success.
Don't go for the maximum enchantment on an item when your Enchant skill is low.
Like early attempts to cast spells you could fail. Result, though your item remains, you've lost your soul gem.
I think what I'm saying is - sell your minor soul gems and use the money to get training in Enchant.

Enchant skill

I would wait. Once you max out (around 50) what the different mages can teach you, there's no other way to increase that skill other than the Grandmaster.(I think)

I would start practicing at that point. You can't really create anything useful anyway.
