The Darkest Day.. too many kits.. whaaaa

Post by Dazzo »

I downloaded TDD.. wow... the kits! the kits!

BUT! I need your (points at YOU!) help.. :/

I really dont know what class to pick.. As usually I ran straight to the thiefs, but immeadiatly chose swashbucklers cause they just rock... but I want to play a new kit! Now, there are the bards.. who look pretty cool and stuff, and there are some new fighter kits (and ofcourse the paladin/ranger kits :p )...

Generally.. these are the kits that are interesting me the most:

Blade Singer (I mean cmon.. a BLADESINGER)
Tiefling (sounds cool.. right?)
Elven Forest Warrior
Shadow Elf
Swashbuckler (=) has always been my favorite class)
Delver
Knifebearer
Chronicler
Troubadour

Id like to hear some imput from people that have played these kits except the swashbuckler, already played him 2421515 times =)

It's mostly known because of the extreme number of bugs in it. It is THE mod with most bugs of them all.

Shadows over soubar is quite big too, and when Return to Windspear comes out, it will be the largest. i think. :p

If he's got the mod he can look at the advantages and disadvantages himself.

Well the only kit I've played to any length was the Rhythm Warrior, and this guy was a freaking blendor. If you like Kensais these guys are so much better but they have some weapon restrictions to even it out a bit. I think I might just download TDD again and start one up, and maybe even dual him to a mage.

Well, together with a friend of me I made a new multiplayerparty (kinda melee heavy, but we like it that way). It has 3 "old kits" and 3 new kits:

1: Frost Dweller (BhaalSpawn) Dwarf
2: Vindicator Half Elf
3: Archer Elf
4: Swashbuckler (couldnt make a party without one :D ) Half Elf
5: Wild Mage (yesterday had a wild surge; heal all, when it was. ehh, let us call it "most needed". Human
6: Cleric (some new kit forgot the name) Dwarf

Its rocking! The swashbuckler still needs some levels to show his full potential, as im used to with them, and the frost dweller and vindicator make awesome tanks.. (not to mention the archer.. wow =) but I already knew this :p )

How on earth can you have a wild mage, when TDD is not ToB compatible????? Image
Icewind Gate II Improved engine, third edition rules and the full BG2 storyline.

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

Cool, if I didn´t get IWD2 soon, I would DL it...
But since I´m already playing Torment, plus all the snes roms, what´s the use? :)

With the enormous TOB compatibility patch, TDD reclaims the crown of "largest mod download" from Soubar which briefly held it.

Based on reports, RtW will be nowhere near as large, because it's not packaging so many rehashed areas from other games in the download.

But in any event... who cares? Neither the quality NOR the amount of changes made to the game are expressed very well in terms of megabytes.

The Solaufein mod is 1 MB, yet by installing all of its components I would argue that you make more fundamental changes to the game than TDD and Soubar put together. Kelsey SOA plus TOB are about 30 MB, but he doesn't change the game 30 times more than Solaufein--but he does have a bunch of audio.

RtW will have new area graphics as well as new audio so it will be a formidable download, but it doesn't matter.

Size isn't everything in other words ;)

Amazes me how much the SOla mod altered the game for me for something that took seconds to DL. Also amazes me how a TDD thread can turn into another Sola mod thread... :D
