myconoid area under copper coronet

Post by krogoth34 »

hey all. i was just randomly skimming through all the topics and someone mensioned the myconoid area under the cc. What the heck is the point of it? theres a minotaur and some myconoids. The minotaur says "my death will be avenged" and dies. You cant stop him dying. I tried ctrl-ying the myco but he died anyways. Anyone have any thoughts?
you hear a rhythmic stomping in the distance, soon the ground begins to shake. Darkness covers you and finally, SPLAT. nighty night. Youve just met the Krogoth

I have always wondered about that area too! It just seems really out of place and disjointed. Is there a point to it? I remember asking that question on another, now dead, board and no one was able to shed any light on it. I'm wondering if it's some sort of mythological or Forgotten Realms reference, but if it is they've fooled me...

How bizarre... I didn't get a Minotaur. Just the Myconids. Down in the sewers near the embracing skeletons, right?

Yeah, that's the place. There should be a Minotaur surrounded by two Myconids and the Myconid King. Usually the Minotaur dies with only one hit, just as you enter the area. Since the Myconids throw around confusion, I'm thinking that this may just be a testing ground to show you how useful Lilarcor really is.

I have the feeling that an area was designated, there, for some other quest, but left out for whatever reason--and they just grabbed a duplicate of the myconid space and contents from the Planar Sphere to fill. Hey, at least it's plausible. ;)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I think both a) and b) put together make for a nice conspiracy theory... :)

Sounds very possible, just like the web-trap with Keldon in the Unseeing Eye quest :)

hmm so it still is a mistery what this area is.
i really was hoping to find here what the area meand.
it could be that is for testing Linacor, but when u play it the first time i looked every where for the blood and came to the area and was hoping to find it on the minotar.
i think many players do this when going to that place first time trough when they don't have linacor.
That along with the strange minotar ( i mean who gets killed by a overgrown flower :D )
makes me think it was some sort of quest but they didn't work it out so it just stayd there and they forgot about it.

Is it possible that the area was intended to be part of Jan Jansen's quest perhaps? I read somewhere that the developers had originally wanted to make the stuff about"The Hidden" way more involved.
Just a stab in the dark.
