Well if you really want the ring but you dont care about killing the lich heres what I did:

With Jan, I just simply walked up to him and pickpocketed the lich. Thats right, I pickpocketed a floating head. :D

The ring was there, so I picked it up and made a mad dash for the exit.

Obvioulsy, before hand I summoned some sacrificial creatures for him to take his damages on, while Jan did pickpocket him.

Once I got through the exit, I had the ring and Kangaxx didnt follow.

I posted this story once before on Gamebanshee, way back in Oct. 2001, so I figured not many people remember it. :D

This way you can get 2 Ring of Gaxx. Just kill him/it after you pickpoketet him, and pick up a second Ring :)

That Sword is 'Flame Tongue'

Damage: 1D8 +1, +2 vs. regenerating creatures, +3 vs. cold/fire creatures, +4 vs. undead

Use this, carsomyer and staff of the rynn and Demi falls quick.
Protection from magic, on closest character and his magic is useless.

I always thought it funny that the Daystar does no damage to Demi, it is +4 vs. Evil after all. someone explained it once but I can't remember- can anyone fill me in?

i cant remember, but i think i first posted pushing kangy with ring about a year ago, except my original cheese was to use delay action fireballs....almost kills him, but not quite....

tyb, if you install balderdash fixpatch that cheese is disabled,,,

demi liches, like the one in watchers is totally vulnerable to dragon breath, one will almost always kill it......

i cant remember if balderdash fixes it, but if ALL members of party are protected against undead he becomes immortal, you need one member spell immune abby to kill it...
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!

Ding dong, the Lich is dead.

I turned my player into a slayer, had Aerie with the Staff of the Magi, Keldorn with the Holy Sword, whacked him for a good 15 seconds and he was gone. I cast a bunch of boosters before the battle and made sure Aerie had spell immunity on her. I did lose 2 rep points for the conversation to slayer, but considering I had 20 rep, no big deal.

His lich howl did take Anomen, and I had to run to the adventurers mart and buy a Freedom scroll, but otherwise the battle hardly took anything out of me.

Thanks to all the people here who responded. Feel free to continue the conversation. I may consider going back and trying to kill him a few different ways just for fun. :)

That is a good, and efficient way to do it. But if you want the ring(s) early in the game, your way is not possible.

I did not refer to any sword, merely correcting a simple confusion. ;)

'Flame Tongue' hitting Kangaxx is well known, though... :)

The lich I had the most problems with was the twisted rune. Not so much because of the lich himself but because of his minions. I ended up casting fire storm in the back of the room to slow down the mage and her demon, a few sunrays for the lich and the vampire, smacked the hell out of the beholder QUICKLY with my ranger and Keldorn, had Jaheira cast some Insect Plague. Then switched my attention to the lich while Aerie and Imoen used Melfs Minute Meteors on the fighter (forget his name), and finally Keldorn and the Ranger on the mage in the back after the mages protections started wearing off (and casting Breach helps). By then my protection from evil was starting to wear off, so I had Keldorn re-cast it on himself and walked up to the demon, making him my ***** with the holy sword.

First few dozen times through that battle I was at lower level (I went there BEFORE the underdark), and got my ass handed to me.
