Final Battle....... ugh...

Post by Holly »

I've tried the final battle over and over again and can't seem to get anywhere.

I have a Wizard, Paladin, 2 Barbarians, a Ranger, and a cleric.

Has anyone got any good tips on how to beat them? I know about knocking out the summoning guy first. That helps, but I'm still stuck. I can't seem to hurt Madae, and Isair dissappears right at the beginning.

Are there any cheats I could use if I really can't pass it?

Thanks.

Yeah, this one took me a while... I'll let you know how I did it...

My party was composed of a fighter, paladin, cleric, bard, thief, and mage. I loaded and buffed the hell out of my guys (imp haste, stone skins, iron skins, mirror image, strength, dex, inv potions, etc.) Still took me over 20 tries to get it.

For the first fight I broke down the party to attack separate targets...

The mage and bard targeted the mage behind the twins with missile weapons. He has low HP and will drop in a couple attacks. Once he drops, target the cleric's opponent (see below). Once he/she drops, target the thief's opponent (see below).

The paladin and fighter targeted the twin to the right (the one w/out the fire shield) with melee weapons to keep the twins occupied. Be sure to stay back with the rest of the party for when they slap the Blasphemy on you.

The cleric tackled the minion to the lower left (drow elf?). Once that one drops, the cleric moves to back up the fighter and paladin, who are by now hurting/poisoned/diseased/held, etc. The cleric should heal and then attack their target, healing as necessary.

Most importantly, the thief dashes to the bottom right, past the wall in the middle and tackles the mage to the lower right. That mage is the one summoning all the monsters. Quick missile attacks keep damaging him and disrupt his spellcasting. Focus on him alone, even though you'll be targeted by other minions. The mage and bard come to help out soon. Once that mage drops, the thief, bard, and mage should all move to the main room area and start wailing away at the twin being attacked by the fighter, paladin, and cleric.

Critical to this plan is that you preiviously restored the monk leader to his true form (he was changed into a lemure and was locked up in the War Tower, I think). He and some of his acolytes will teleport in and help kill/distract the minions.

When done correctly, I only had to use a few healing spells. Critical, as you'll use them like water later.

When you drop the twin below "Hurt" they'll teleport out and you just have to finish off the minions. Heal up, rebuff (if necessary) and then exit the southern doors.

You'll be taken to the room with the mystical pool and after some brief dialog, be back in the fray. When the fight starts, immediately exit the room through the left door. Your hasted characters will get a head start on the twins and minions. Head to the top of the "ring" that surrounds the center stairwell and start filling the lower screen near the door to the twins room with summoned monsters, undead, whatever. They'll choke the entrance and you can start casting damage spells at ONE of the twins... I like Chain Lightning for the large damage and selective targeting. Concentrate on that ONE twin until he/she drops.

Use your fighters to play blockers and deal with any minions that may get through before the summoned monsters are warped in. Make sure the summoned creatures are attacking one of the twins to focus their attention on them. Use +5 missiles (or as high as you have) as well as spells to damage that single twin you are targeting. It will probably be necessary to go hand-to-hand with the targeted twin once they dispatch the summoned creatures, but they'll be weakened and should be prey for your fighters. Keep the preist out of the slug-fest to cast Mass Heal when required.

If you can defeat one, you defeat both.

Hope this helps, and keep trying ; )
