So if I bought and installed Morrowind on my computer, what % chance do I have of gettin it going?
Don't laugh, this is all I have to work with:
PIII 600 MHz
128 MB RAM
ATI RAGE FURY 128
4X CD ROM (I used to have a 52X, but it broke 3 months after I got my comp, go figure)
SB Live
So do I have a hope in hell of running it?

Yes -- but very, very, very poorly. Constant access of the slow CD -and- the hard drive (it will be used for major chunks of virtual memory with only 128 megs of RAM) will slow much of the game to a crawl, and load times from zoning will be a real headache.
OTOH, toss in another 128 megs of RAM and put in a modern CD player and it will be very playable for you.

Actually, with more memory and a decent CD drive I'd expect you to get pretty good performance. I played Morrowind with:
Athlon 800
40X CD
128 megs of RAM
GE Force 2 64 meg
....and got absolutely crap performance, to the point where it was unplayable even on the lowest detail settings. I upgraded memory to 256 megs and performance -dramatically- increased. I was able to turn up all the graphic settings (with the exception of the "good" water effects, which are only possible with GE Force 4 and comparable cards) and still get over 25 fps.

So if my system looked like this:
PIII 600 MHz
ATI Rage 128
256 MB RAM
52X CD-ROM
Does that look okay for running Morrowind?
For any Canadian's out there, (damn our crappy dollar) what can I expect to pay for a 52X CD-ROM and 128 more MB of RAM? Oh and sorry for this little spam, Buck.

I played MW on a Voodoo5 5500 (+AMD 750, 256 RAM) with absolutely no problems. Performance was quite acceptable and game looked great - 800x600, medium video settings.
Works fine on my Hercules Kyro II PC (+AMD 1000, 256 RAM), too - only problem is minor graphic anomalie on char portrait in inventory screen. Overall image a bit grainier than on Voodoo5, performance on par.
Recently replaced Voodoo5 with Ti4200 - only getting a tad better FRs but can bump up the eye-candy to max. Let's face it, though, do real-time shadows actually make the game more interesting?

What part of Canada
What part of Canada do you live in? I know of a good local site/store in Vancouver. And another site/store for... well, Vancouver.
But for 128 MB Ram prices seem to range from $40 - $140, search on Google, or visit here: Sharky Extreme. Search for whatever you need in the search box, not the one in the middle, the one on the left hand side.
