elves und rangers

Post by Lare »

heyas all.
do elves get their natural longbow and longsword +to hit bonuses in bg2 too?

also, since every class is able to succesfully wield two weapons at the same time, do rangers still have some sort of bonus with this?
If not, i find rangers very bad melee weapon users, since they only get that to be proficient with weapons.

Yes, elves get their bonus to hit (and, possibly, to damage as well).

I'm curious: why the sense that rangers should have a bonus / natural affinity for dual-wielding. I never played as / with rangers in PnP, so I never looked at their rules etc.

Rangers in PnP wre supposed to be albe to dual wield withour a penalty. This was the only claas that was able to do that.
Btw Rangers can specializ in weapons not be proficient.

It's because we Rangers look so goddamn cool dual wielding long-swords while beating into our foes respect for nature Image

I must say, I always thought of Rangers as bow characters, but BG2 certinally changed that for me Image

i think in the original AD&D the dual wield of the ranger class is to balance somewhat for their inability to wear heavy armor and lack of mastery.

That'd be nice if Rangers could at least have Mastery. ie three proficiencies.
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

Well, Vehemence, if a ranger would have 3 slots they would be far overpowered.
The only difference between having 3 or 5 slots is 1 damage and one speedfactor better, while there is greater difference between 2 and 3.
Be glad that rangers have 2, and then the extra abilities of a ranger.
