Do a search on google or another site.
Make sure it's the right size.
(use the attachment; select it so see it since it's white)

You can edit a picture you have too.

Go on google and search for forum avatars. That's where I got mine from. There have also been several threads in the forum(this one from the top of my head)

edit => The size of the avatar has to be 50x50 pixels or less. You can always make the picture smaller in paint if the one you have is too big.

Indeed, it's been done before. :D
While you are at it, perhaps you can edit an x-mas hat on it too! ;)

I think it's kinda late for x-mas hats. I would switch back to my wolf but I can't find the original picture. Must've deleted it in one of my cleaning frenzies :o

Here's a very good program for re-sizing your picture to 50x50. It doesn't crop, but re-scale it, wich is ver nice compared to programs like Paintshop Pro wich removes parts of the picture, instead of just making it a smaller copy.

When you're doing your google search, you might want to try making it specific. I got this one after I tried "M:TG avatars". I even found some punk avatars but they feel kinda lost in this forum so i opted for the creepy animated gif instead.

Oh...forgot to say you can get any old pic you like and scale it down (MS Photo editor does a good job). My first avatar was a siberian husky i ripped of a Snowdogs advert.

If you decide on an animated gif file and need to scale it up or down to fit 50 x 50 pixels, I suggest Adobe ImageReady so you can just enter the 50 X 50 pixel values. Stress free all the way.

Finally, if you REALLY want to broaden your avatar horizons. You can do Google searches for "Buddy Icons" instead of using "avatars."

Hope this saves you some time choosing an avatar.

You could even ask certain members to find one for you. I am among those who will happily search for one. Because I have no life, and I need to kill time. :D

I've got a copy of mine, but for some reason, this forum seems to think it's too large, now.

Already have Irfanview--I've had it for several years. It would appear that in saving my original avatar, I may have saved it as part of a much larger blank viewing area--it no longer shows up as a thumbnail. Not quite sure how to clip it out, and I know nothing about painting programs.
