Windows 2000

Post by icemaann »

I installed Baulder's Gate 2 as a user with full administration capabilites, but now when any other user logs in and runs BG2 it pops up the intro screen and where it should say "Play" it says "Install". Clicking install just closed the intro and thats it. Anyone know how to fix this? Also, does BG2 run better or worse on Win2k as opposed to Win9x?

I have had no problems with Windows 2000 and BGII. Need win2k cause win9x doesn't support mp..

Higher resolutions seems fubared because of my video drivers, (Voodoo 2000) but 800x600 works great..

Okay but can u log in as any user and play BG2? I can only play if I log in as the original user who installed it. If I login as another user (unprivileged, in the "Power Users" group) it says its not installed.

P.S. Just out of curiosity... how much RAM do u have?

I've been running BGII under Win2K -- I installed it under my personal power user account and I have had no problems thus far.

One thing I have noticed though is that the game seems a little unstable -- especially when spell effects start to show up. I find myself dealing with crashes about 1x every two hours or so of game play (Win2K pops up these dialogs with all sorts of interesting assertions). I'm not running any of the high resolutions, I have 256 MEG of RAM on my system and ~ 10 Gig of disk space, high cache and I did a full load of the game. I also have the most recent drivers for my cards (NVIDIA GeForce MX and Aureal Vortex) and my Win2K is up-to-date, so I suspect it is the game, not my computer.

It's a bit of a surprise, because I have played BGI + ToSC, IWD, and Planescape:Torment on the same computer with no crashes at all.
