Vhailor's Helm Broken?

I can't seem to get Vhailor's Helm (which is supposed to allow you to cast Simulacrum once per day) to work. When I use the helmet I just get a message:

Character Name-Save vs. Death

Then that's it. Anyone else seen this or gotten it to work?

It seems to be broken. I've seen several posts similiar to your own, and have yet to see one contrary.

What a ripoff! I just added the download for the bonus cd items and when I say that helm I bought it...It won't work!!! And the merchant won't take it back but for a fraction of the price. That is how they get you.

The Helm does work, you just have to fail that save vs death. Take off any items that give you plusses to your saves before using.

That might seem harsh but simulicrum is extremely useful.
