The Grand Duchy of Nematodis
"Knowledge, Justice and Free sex"

UN Category :D emocratic Socialists
Civil Rights:Good
Economy:Fair
Political Freedoms:Below Average
Location: SYM

The Grand Duchy of Nematodis is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its burgeoning aplysia population. Its compassionate population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.
The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 34%, but much higher for the wealthy. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Trout Farming industry.
Crime is relatively low. Nematodis's national animal is the aplysia , which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the worm.

Aplysia living in the forests??? And how can I stop them from being fiercly patriotic?!

Pesky issues!

The Police department is considering installing surveillance cameras in all major public areas, in an effort to crack down on crime.

"This is a blatant invasion of the right to privacy!" says libertarian web site operator Violet McAlpin. "Now I can't even go out in public any more without being watched? And you know this is just the beginning. Today there are cameras in city streets. Tomorrow they're peering through your bedroom window."

"Hey, I've got news for you," says Police media liaison Freddy Love. "When you're out in public, PEOPLE CAN SEE YOU. These cameras will be extremely helpful in reducing the national crime rate. Frankly, I can't see what the fuss is about."

"This 'slippery slope' argument has got me thinking," says Police Minister Prudence Washington. "You know, it would be a lot easier to fight crime if we watched people all the time. Not with cameras, of course. That's clearly an invasion of privacy. But how about a national database of our citizens, coupled with compulsory ID cards and barcoding? It would stop crime dead in its tracks."

The government is preparing to dismiss this issue.

I sent the trio off to split a keg of Weissbier. I think they'll come to a compromise all on their own. It may or may not involve cameras and slippery slopes. :p

Peace.

Very observant

Yes, VoodooDali, I have dismissed every one of my issues. The effect: my country never changes in any way, excepting only that the population continues to grow. Personally, I think it's all for the best.

Peace.

Dang, Kayland was number 11. :( We just missed making the list. Maybe that's because we're a Corrupt Dictatorship now. :p
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

The Rogue Nation of Zeddicus
"Keep rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin'"

UN Category: Father Knows Best State
Civil Rights: Good Economy: Strong Political Freedoms: Few

Location: SYM
The Rogue Nation of Zeddicus is a large, devout nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, hard-working, cynical population of 20 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The small government juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Defence, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 5%. A large private sector is led by the Soda Sales industry, followed by Trout Farming and Furniture Restoration.

TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas, college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys, the government is reigning in public spending, and military spending is on the increase. Crime is a problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Zeddicus's national animal is the zee, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the zen.

I'm no longer an Inoffensive Central Democracy :(

The Sultanate of Froggle
"Its Not Easy Being Green"

UN Category: Liberal Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Basket Case
Political Freedoms: World Benchmark

UN Member

Location: SYM

The Sultanate of Froggle is a small, socially progressive nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 9 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 62%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Uranium Mining.

Military funding has been stripped back, a well-funded social safety net protects the unfortunate, voting is voluntary, and organ donation is compulsory. Crime is totally unknown. Froggle's national animal is the frog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the favour.

Hey! Who reduced my income tax to 62%?

And I like baskets ;) :p
