Please explain this to me

Post by Ares2382 »

If I have resist magick 100% shouldn't I be immune to bad magick? I'm playing a Breton(50% resist) and wearing saviors hide armor(60 % resist) my math skill tell me that if they stack, which they should, then I have 110% magick resist which is suppposed to make me immune to bad magick so what am I missing here, why am I still gettin hurt by lightning spells, paralyzed and burdened by all the spells that hit me?

Well, not exactly...

The game doesn't perceive magick in the same broad sense that you are. In Morrowind, magick is a type of damage, just like fire, shock, frost, etc. Therefore, magick resistance will only protect from you damage and effects that are decidedly magical in nature--for the most part, anything that doesn't fit into any other category.

So while the Cuirass of the Saviour's Hide (60% magicka resistance) will help to negate the blinding effects of the aptly named Boots of Blinding Speed, it won't provide any protection against fireballs, lightning, or paralysis. Hope that clears it up for you!
