problesm with dragons eye

i have no thief, so i cannot loot the chests which contain the ropes. i have 1. thats it. unable to get ropes to repair the bridge. WHAT do i do? i dont want to cheat, no mods, nothing.. what can i do? i tried forcing the chest by madals body for like 12 years, and it didnt work.. the character i tried it with has a +12str and a greataxe+4. any idea?

To be able to successfully bash a locked container you need a char with high pts of strength. IIRC 15+ is more adequate - and from my experiment, Barbarians mostly can bash those containers out - unless the container need a specific key which need to be found somewhere.

strangely enough, i had the same problem earlier this week with my new party (you could read about it in page 1 of the battle squares thread). my two character party had a paladin with 19 strength and monk with 18 strength and they could not bash the chests open (i even cast bull's strength on them for good measure). but i did find this out, you do not need the ropes to finish dragon's eye - in fact, if you have ranged weapons/area effect direct damage you do not need them at all. if you want me to elaborate on this, let me know.

and if you have neither ranged weapons nor area effect spells (like i did) you CAN still complete dragon's eye - it just requires a little more effort. so don't let not being able to get the ropes tie you down. just get the ones you are able to and partially repair the bridge.

The Bridge

You don't die by falling off the bridge, just unconscious, so go anyway. Just takes a little longer. I only found three and still completed the section. Don't be detered.
