Character creation and questions UPDATED

I borrowed Morrowind from a friend to see if it was worth buying so no manual.

1. Is there a way to decrease load times since it takes forever to load and then you take ten steps and it loads again. my computer is 3 - 4 years old, no new graphic card or anything. dont know more sorry

2 What would be a good birthsign for a mage or a thief. or maybe a Mage/Thief as these are always my favorite classes. What skills would be good as i refuse to take already generated classes. they suck (usualy)

3 What is the trainers?

4 How do you gain new spells?

I think you will find this very worth buying. Not only will you get the manual, but also the map. You may want to get The Morrowind Prophesies.

You will need a much more up to date computer. Mine is a couple of years old, but I had to do some serious upgrading to be able to play. You'll need a minimum PIII 700, 384Mb RAM with 600Mb cache, etc.

You need to consider the race first before you consider the birthsign, as races have attributes peculiar to them that suggest they are better fighters than thieves or mages, as an example. You also need to consider the attribute bonus (for 2 attributes) that can bolster weeknesses for that particular race, and then whether your class is to focus on combat OR magic OR stealth (can't be combination).

Your ability to interact with the world around you is based on your skills. As you successfully use skills, your skill level increases and your chance of successfully using that skill again increases (lack of success doesn't decrease your skill level, it just doesn't increase). Trainers are a substitute for 'learning by experience', BUT the cost for each level increase increases.

Purchase from 'spell merchants'; some in Mages Guilds, some in Temples, some in Shrines, some 'out-and-about'. You may need to join that 'faction' and do some quests in order to qualify to purchase.

Concerning your question #4 it must be noted that purchasing spells is not the same as purchasing spells on scrolls. Scrolls are cast once and done. When you purchase a spell they are automatically added to a permanent list. In the very beginning I learned this the hard way. My years of Pencil & Paper and Computer Dungeons and Dragons style of RPG had to be unlearned, i.e., in D&D one purchased spells off of scrolls and successfully memorized them. In Morrowind that is not how it is done.

If i conjure a bow does it need normal arrows to shoot or does it make its own?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'conjure a bow', but if you mean enchant, then you must understand the affect of the spell before you add it to the bow. Bear in mind that bows won't carry much enchantment. Before adding an enchantment to the bow, save your game and after enchanting it, test it out to see if the enchantment does what you want.

As for arrows, you must acquire them yourself. There are two types, regular and enchanted (btw, arrows cannot be enchanted by you). Of the regular, the most common are chitin and iron with most weapons merchants carrying a goodly supply of iron. Enchanted arrows are mostly poison, fire, spark and shard. Very few of these are found in crates; most are with skeleton archers and the trick is to recognise these NPC's as such and kill them before they use all the arrows (usually against you).

I think he means conjure a Bound Bow.

@IHateUsernames: To answer your question, YES, you need to supply your own arrows. The nice thing about a conjured bound bow is that it repairs itself everytime its reconjured. I put the Bound Bow spell as a Constant Effect enchantment on a Admantium helm with some other bound items and whenever I wanted to use it I just switch helms using the hot keys.
