I was searching similar sites when i came upon pcgr.com and his review section. This is a section where players like you and me are allowed to write reviews about games they have played and rate it.
So i read a review by someone who had played BG1 and TOSC (and liked them) but didn't like BG2 because your party gets so many sidequests,NPC interaction is stupid (like TV series 90210) etc.Well, something wasn't right so i checked again and i saw that there is a spot where you write your personal data.In this spot there is a line "Hours played".Guess what, how many hours he has spent on BG2?Well...12 hours(!!!).Ok,you have the right to express your own opinion, but 12 hours for a 4 CD game?
The final blow came when i read a line saying that you'll curse yourself if you choose to be a fighter or a fighter kit in BG2,because there are very few NPC having the mage class. No comment here by me.

(PS: On second thought,it seems that he was playing a different game, something like "Baldir's Gate" or "Baldur's Doors".Have anyone seen a game named like that on stores?I want to buy it right now!)

Hehe, you gave him in, didnt you?

I have played it for a week now, and I must say : There is no-one better. BG2 is the best game there is. And I have to say, and I think I speak for everybody who really love the game: more quests, we cant get enough of them.

dont know how they could think there are not enough mages, what about Jan, Aerie, Edwin, Nali and Imoen. The dumba$$ must have just looked at the first word of their class and not the word after the "/" and they also didnt realise that a conjurer is a mage :-)

I think that Bg 2 is great i loved it from the moment i played it, BG1 is also good but BG2 just knocks spots off it.

I think the guy that wrote the review needs their head (and eyesight) examined
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

He actually wrote that there are many thief/mages and very few pure mages. My guessing is that -since he played the game so little-he haven't met those mage related NPCs but he just read the manual descriptions and he assumed that all are multi classed (but why,the manual says Nalia and Imoen are human so they are by definition dual classed characters)
If he had played he would have seen that Nalia and Imoen are in fact pure mages with extra combat abilities like using short bows, better HP than a mage of the same lvl and thief skills.I think that the game designers put these two NPCs in the game on purpose-to help players. After all,in BG1 many players dual classed Imoen to a mage.
I want to mention also that Haer'Dalis can also be considered as a "light" version of a fighter/mage class since he can cast up to sixth lvl spells and can use swords.
