Earning XP

Post by alfric »

Hey everyone! I just wanted to know if what I am doing actually works. I was reading the tips in between scenes and one of them said : the lower the character's level is, the more XP you will receive. I had continued with my game and then I realized I stopped getting XP for killing some tough creatures. I got frustrated and decided to stop "levelling up".

Currently, most of my party is listed as level 13 and have 100,000 XP (lvl 14 @ 91,000 XP) so I am purposely selling them short in the hopes to get more XP. I figured I'll finally increase their levels when I get to a really tough battle and I need to do it.

Is this a futile attempt or did I catch the game on a technicality?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

technically, that technique should work - and actually, i've wanted to try it myself yet i never got around to doing so coz i just kept playing solo and being leveled is more important there.

here's what you can do to test it, since you already have an overflow: with your current set-up, save the game, add the levels, then go and kill any experience-giving monster. take note of the experience reward. now load the game and kill the same monster without adding the levels - and compare the value of the reward with the last one, you should get your answer right there. let me know how it works out.

Success! With my party as lvl 13, I killed a Yuan Ti Half Breed Sorceress. XP meritted : 450. I levelled up my characters to lvl 14 and killed the same creature. Sure enough : 365 XP.

My suggestion for players would be to play and ignore your XP until you know you are getting into a heavy battle. If I would have known this in the past I would have held off going up to lvl 2 until I'd have finished all of my "gopher" missions. I would have gained alot more XP then.

Important note to self as I'll be attempting Heart of Fury mode after this game...

As a follow up to the previous testing, I had my characters amass XP up to 126K and I finally decided to level them up. When I clicked the "Level Up" button it automatically did all three levels at the same time (lvl 13 straight to lvl 16!!!). I didn't wholly mind, however, it does not give you the opportunity to continue to multi-class your characters (one class or the other).
