assassin kit

Post by Sulik »

i had a few questions about the assassin kit...

it seems like a great idea, and i played with one for a while, but i didnt notice any great benefits an assassin had over the normal thief (except for poison of course, and the +1 to hit and damage!)
and in my opinion, losing 10 skill points a level to get poison isnt a great trade off...

so i was just wondering, does the assassin kit get any other bonuses? later on perhaps?

do you get more bonuses to thac0 and damage than a regular thief? or some extra backstabbing bonus at higher levels? and does poison improve later on?

appreciate any help u can give me

ps- and im talking about the regular game, no expansion and no mods

An assasian can get up to a backstab mulitiplier of 7 instead of 5. This sure is a substantial advantage in my oppinion.

whoa! it doesnt say so in the manual!

at what level do u get the X6 and X7 multipliers?

i know that at level 15 u get the X5 multiplier with a regular thief... is that just replaced with a X7 multiplier in the case of an assassin?

I dont remember that from head, but isnt that info displaced when you create your character and choose a class??

And for the poison, thats great, have you ever tried it on mages?
Works wonders!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

At 13 you should get x5 multiplier with a thief (according to the manual p. 125), so I would suspect at 17 and then again at 21 the assassin will gain x6 and x7, but this is just speculation based on the 1-5 multipliers levels. I've never played an assassin myself.

I've tested it and started one, and it does.
One of the advanteges in my version of BG2 states on the creation screen when starting a new character, that an assassin can gain x7 instead of usual x5

Will test it once more when I get home, but tested it this morning.

Maybe the Aussie version is different. :D

Just rechecked this ... and in my version (EU version, latest patch) it states that "Backstab multiplier reaches x7 instead of x5" or something similar.

Just on the line over the disadvantages.

It doesn't say so in the manual, but many of the abilities of all the classes aren't listed specifically in the manual at all.
