Broken Spells [one is spoily]

Post by megamole »

I've found that the following spells are really useful.

Two are Clerical spells from the War domain.

1. Spiritual Weapon.
This isn't useful so much for its attack potential (unless your Cleric has a high BAB - mine nearly always have some levels of Fighter, so that's possible) as for the fact that it's invulnerable.

You heard that. It's invulnerable.

So you summon the weapon next to big bad hill giant, balor etc and watch the poor yutz critically hit 5 times a round for 0 points of damage. Meanwhile, you draw your Wand of Magic Missiles or missile weapon and pepper the fool. Or you summon it next to a spell caster and watch them lose all their spells. It's like having a Mordenkainen's Sword or Black Blade of Disaster - only at 2nd level. Muahahahaa!

2. Magic Weapon
It's a known bug in this game. Take weapon, cast Magic Weapon on it and it gains the requisite number of pluses. They DO NOT GO AWAY.

Then there is this first level bard/2nd level mage spell.

3. Tasha's Hideous Laughter
Perfect for knocking over big, stupid melee-oriented monsters such as bugbear leaders, fighters or especially hill giants.

And the following two mage spells.

4. Keen Edge
Slice and dice time. Again, this is permanent (or appears to be) and works on any weapon - multiple castings stack. The Great Cleaver can be made to have a base crit range of 17-20x4 relatively easily.

5. Suggestion
Nothing better than a high-level Charm for causing havoc in enemy ranks. Especially if you cast it on a spellcaster.

Muaha.

[SPOILY ONE NEXT]

6. Dismissal
Win the game in one shot.

Mordenkainen's faithful hound.

Immune to most things (except fear and cloudkill) and can summon may of them at the same time, they even last until they are killed it seems (I've had four for several days and they are still here bright eyed and cold nosed). Block off the enemy and finish them with fireballs.
