Can you install patch and resume saved games from "pre-patch"?

Very nervous about installing the patch and losing my saved games i currently have. I've played for days, and i am on dungeon level 3 going for the orb, and if i install the patch and my saved games are "incompatible" i think i will explode!! I install the patch after only playing for a few hours and my old prepatch saved games kept locking up, so i reinstalled game without patch after copying my old saved game files, and then i was back in business. Anyone try doing the patch and using a "old" saved game like i did without a problem? If so, ill back up my saved game and try it again.

Second question, I have BURNE in my party and he has "chimes of opening" in his inventory, yet i cant get him to use them no matter what i try. Is this like the rope of entanglement (just there to tease us? or am i doing something wrong?

I had no trouble playing my "old" games after installing the patch. In fact, that is all I've played. Hope that helps.

I don't have a clue about Burne, I never recruited him.

First question: Yes you can install and uninstall patches without problems, unless you're really unlucky so I'd back up the game files first anyway as a precaution.

Second question: No idea didn't recruit him, but will have a look tonight for you.

Thanks, ill install the patch, but back up my saved games to another folder "just in case".
