sword of backstabing question

You recieve this sword as a reward from Renal Bloodscalp but when I'am playng as a Thief and he offers me the Mae Var guild I don't recieve it only the gold.Is this normal?
also does it improve backstbbing ability by one point?

1) No idea on that.

2) Actually, it has a VERY low speed factor, so it can result in more backstabs in combat. Also, since it's a +3 short sword, it'll be pretty good up until late SoA.

i yhinked you were able to do only one backstab than you need to drink another potion of invisibility,run and hide in shadows, use a spell of invisibility isn't it?

If you have the Rogue Rebalancing Mod installed you receive the sword either when you kill Aran Linvail for Bodhi (in Chapter 2) or if you convince him to send some shadow thieves to help you in the last fight vs Bodhi (in Chapter 7). This Mod also improves the Short Sword of Backstabbing, but only if it is wielded by a thief.
