Whats so good about inquisitors?
They cant use priest spells or lay on hands, dosent that make them worse than paladins?

Dispell Magic and True sight come in VERY handy!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Well..

Immunity to hold & charm is fairly handy, but their big plus is innate true sight (once/day each 3 levels) and the 2 X level dispel (same) - a sure thing for knocking out spell protections on higher level creatures, especially before you get all that good sequencer trigger stuff happening.

That being said, the trade-offs may not be that good. Armour of Faith and Draw upon Holy Might are pretty nice spells for melees. Lay Hands - meh. Some will suggest that Undead Hunters are a much better choice - I'm on the fence myself, with mixed feelings about Paladins on the whole.

*EDIT* Question added for UserUnfriendly, or any other experts out there:

I hacked Minsc to Inquisitor at game start in my current party, then switched him to Undead Hunter around level 11 - but he just got level drained fighting the vampires in Chapter 3 - shouldn't he be immune to level drain? If so, is that an affect code (and which? ) or what?.

Help, I'm confused! *END EDIT*
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

nephtu, there are two good ways to edit an existing character. The best way is to change him to a Level 0 character when you change his class. When he levels up, he should gain all of the special abilities of the new class. Saving throws, spell abilities, etc. will be adjusted automatically. If I want to do a total conversion, I remove all existing "Affects", spells, Thieving Points, Proficiency Points, etc. before I change classes.

The other way to edit a character is to create a new one from scratch to use as a model, and make the necessary changes to your existing character. For example, you could create an Undead Hunter and look at his "Affects" to see if your own Undead Hunter is missing any of them. An Undead Hunter has about ten "Affects" with the resource codes SPCL241 and SPCL242.

Just because I know all this doesn't mean I cheat that much, you know. :) I just like to edit the NPCs to make them the class I want them to be.

Yeah...

I did it more-or-less that way - made him level zero with 1 HP, THAC0 20, and deleted all his ranger abilities (though keeping his goofy, semi-berserk rage), and redid that when I made him an undead hunter, though I didn't delete his dispel magic or true sight

Hmm..I'll have to gen up an undead hunter....or maybe return him to inquisitorness

should have worked...

i normally make a template, a pc inquisitor, and after making minsc from an undead hunter, i add the affects from my template, as well as add the innates, true sight and dispell magic using the identifiers on my template...take a look at his affects, you should see something about immune to level drain

starts with

0x00000065

and the third variable should be...

216 is Level Drain,

if you don't see that, it might be due to converting from one pally kit to another...i don't see how, but that might be it...

Couldn't stand to give up those Inquisitor abilities, eh? :)

I've never thought of making Minsc a Paladin before, especially not an Inquisitor, but upon reflection, perhaps it suits him.

"Wolves? Ogres? Witches? Oh my! It is too much for Minsc's poor head to comprehend! Which of these are evil? The edge of my sword shall find the truth!"

:)

Well...

Personality wise, a Cavailer kit might be better, and Inquisitor suited the "Jump on my sword, Evil! I won't be so merciful!" but I decided he should have some priestly spells.

It's my all hack party - PC Sorceror, Minsc the Paladin, Jaheira as Ranger/Cleric (a great fit, with much cheesy goodness), Jan as Assassin, Viconia as specialty priest of Talos - which really suits her, I think - and Tashia (well, I hacked her spell list a bit...I have been thinking of making her a sorceror Kensai, but sorcerors are cheesy enough.)

Immunity to level drain WAS missing, thanks for the help!
