Question about solo'ing

Post by Fer'or »

I am planning to do a solo game, but I was wondering (because when I have a full party, all my chars are full with gems (for selling) and potions and stuff), where do you leave all your items that you can't carry? Or shouldn't I take every item that's worth a couple of coins?

I am currently playing a solo archer and I was having severe inventory space shortages before I got containers to put stuff in. I would recommend buying gembags, potioncase and scroll cases and pick up the ammobelt at watchers keep and import the bag of holding. CreatItem("bag04")
But you will have plenty of money after a while so no need to pick up the worthless gems.

Ok when you start the game, you can get 4 people right away and then 5 not much after, so thats alot to carry and there isnt that many gems. Plus if you overload with itmes, its ok to drop at gem or 2. Out of the dungeon, you'll be in Athkalta, somewhere in that city, in a part of it ( I think the docks) theres a place where you can buy GEM BAGS!!! Great thing, 1 bag costs like 200$ and you can put I dont know how many gems in it but A LOT!!! PLENTY!!!! and it always weighs like 3 pounds, its a magical bag, so you put your gems and necklaces in there and you can sell em once your in the city! Hope I've helped

Thanks for the tip.

And can I store some really worthy (but heavy) equipment in my Stronghold?

Of course!
You can store as much as you like, stack the whole damn place full with worthless things :p

Just beware you need to HAVE the stronghold.
Cause if ud play, lets say Ranger, and would stack everything before the major gives you the stronghold. You will lose all your stuff ones the major gives u the stronghold, cause the area changes...

Also, I think there is a bug with the Cleric stronghold that doesn't allow you to open the chest. I tried it and got chewed out for stealing from the church! :( This was especially ironic becaues I was putting something in rather than taking it out.

Nah. I just reloaded and used the lion's head in Waukeen's promenade to store stuff. That's where I tend to store things anyway so it was no big deal.

Solo play

If you play solo, the Bag of Holding is really a good idea, aside from the cheese possibilities. The inventory management mini-game is less than fun. This is doubly true if you don't have Ease-of-Use.

I used to stash stuff on the tables at the main Shadow thieves hall - it always struck me as appropriate that I could leave tons of valuable items lying around on a table at the thieves guild

I store every single little pointless item that cant be sold in stores where there are duplicates.

For example, if i get a longsword +1 ill only sell it to a store that has a longsword+1 so it stacks rather then make a new place in the store.

Other then that i keep things at my stronghold (usually the planar sphere in the first set of rooms)... HOWEVER if you have ToB installed i recommend before "finishing" SoA you transfer everything you have over to the first level of WK. This way you can still access all of your items from within ToB. If like me you are a collector of useless objects and like to have literally hundreds of necklaces and jewels laying around rather then sell them, you wont want to leave them anywhere you cant get at them.

(remember to move everything out of WK before finishing it however)

You realize, don't you, that you get more money if you sell items to a store that doesn't already stock it?

That is a brilliant idea! Not that I ever have use for the stuff that I packrat away, but still...

Kind of like a dragons hoard then :D
Move it all down to the final level and seal the keep. Making it a good quest reward for future generations

Yep, but i like everything neat and tidy, so i know where everything is if i need it. Besides when is cash really an issue? After Spellhold i dont think ive ever even had to consider my cashflow.

I am tempted to start a new game with a fighter PC and fill up the weapons room at the keep with stuff like Carsomy, Heartseeker, the Wave, Armor of the hart etc hehe. The servants would be impressed having to clean stuff like that.
Have you noticed how the sword of chaos 1 point drain goes through mirror image? Pretty handy although it is stopped by stoneskin.

I never noticed that, are you sure it goes to the primary target rather then drain one of the images?

And the keep, i did that too =) Placed all the NPC's at my stronghold too all around the place, i figured they could guard it while i was away. (well, its better then them sitting around in the copper cornet all day isnt it?).

Alternatively turn annoying NPC's into statues for your amusement, thats what aerie got with haer'dalis for cheating on me... i mean how could she even CONSIDER liking that guy? After all ive done for her?!? HAS SHE NO IDEA WHO I AM? Well they want to be with one another... fine, they can be together for all eternity. =D (Edwin told me to do it).

Edwin also got pissed at him not having a statue in trademeet, and went on a rampage turning the whole town to stone. *sob* i love that guy.

You can get it here
