Why is my PC console so weird?

I recently learned of the Morrowind console and all the different cheats one can use. I figured this would help me a bit because I lost a certain exclusive weapon and I need it VERY badly. The weapon is the Bonebiter longbow from the Urshilaku burial caverns. This is the ONLY weapon that will not show up in my inventory after I put the cheat in the console, and the console even shows that it worked!! WHY?!?!

It's possible you haven't found the right code. It have happened to me, too. You summon an item, it seems ok on console, altogether there's no item in the inventory until you find the right id. IMHO, the problem is in the fact that the name you're using as an id is quite legal, altogether in matches no real item. Perhaps it may mean the enchantment of activated item or something else, it is in the esm-file, although has no real item connected. As soon as you find the right id all is ok.
Just to be sure - is the id you're using "bonebiter_bow_unique"? The command should be:
player->AddItem "bonebiter_bow_unique" 1
