What would you be if you had this take on the world -
the glass is always half empty, the world is out to get you - and every cloud has a silver lining, but lightning kills people going to look for it?
Not a personal reality check . Just would want to know what a rotten attitude would do to an alignment. I was thinking CN, but that doesn't seem to fit.
I guess you could extend this and ask what would this guy do for a living?
Just a thought.

This sounds a lot like Xan from BG1. He's Lawful Neutral.
Or a Lawful Depressed Bard, singing only tearjerking country- and bluessongs?

Got hit by lightning twice..."

Dunno if I'm being too serious in a "joke" thread, but there is no (direct) relationship between personality and alignment.
A Lawful Good can still be a miserable git - pessimistic, surly and bed-tempered. But s/he won't go out slaughtering the innocent just because s/he's in a bad mood - s/he'd still be bound by the codes of Lawful Goodness. I'm sure we all know people like that - a real pain to be around, but a stalwart friend when it matters. Many elderly relatives fit this description.
Similarly, a really nasty Chaotic Evil might be utterly charming, witty and optimistic - but ready to slit your throat on a whim! I hope we don't know people like that, because they're usually serial killers!
To take examples from literature (coz history's so often a grey or debatable area), Bruenor Battlehammer is typical of the former case - a mouth as foul as his temper, but with a heart of gold underneath. Dracula is a classic case of the latter - elegant, cultured and a most thoughtful and attentive host, but not someone you'd like to marry your sister!
Of course, temperament may make one more likely to follow a certain path - someone with a heart filled with anger and hate is more likely to give in to those emotions, while one whose spirit is joyful is unlikely to be attracted to "the Dark Side". But such links are by no means inevitable or insuperable - the individual always has the choice of whether or not to be ruled by their emotions. The exercise of this free will is what determines alignment.
So If I play my guy and he gives in to the grouchy impulses are we talking about a CE guy, an NE. Let's say for clarity's sake, our soon-to-be created character, is a grouch (not just depressing like Xan - yuk).
What would he be (Assasin, Thief, Berserker, Skald, etc.)?
Thanks

if memory serves me correctly it would be a Chaotic Neutral person.
Why? I don't see anything psychotic or Chaotic Neutral in this pc. Just a man or woman who doesn't have a very optimistic view of life. So what? And why wouldn't (s)he be in control of him/herself?

I'm with this. Personality tells you why you believe what you believe. Alignment tells you what you believe--and it doesn't even do that well.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
