Saving throws

I'd like to know more about saving throws, the calculation basis and personnal races stats, for purpose of knowledge and future char creation (I usually use humans and half elves, thinking bout changing to something else).

Does anyone knows a guide, link or can explain me how does it happen? (If SoA specific, just better)
