Mae'Var won't talk to me

I just finished the last mission, I killed Embarl and took his dagger, but for some reason now Mae'Var won't speak with me at all, it keeps saying he's too busy. Any idea what's going on here, and how to fix it?

Let me guess... you have Windows XP but not the latest SoA/ToB Patch, right ?

That's a known problem fixed by an official patch which you can get here:
