Reputation Question - Possible Spoilers
Reputation Question - Possible Spoilers
Hello, this is my first post here, but I have been reading these forums from time to time, so I thought someone might be able to help me.
I am currently on my second time through the game and I want to know if short of finding some random peasant and disposing of him if there is anyway to reduce my repuation without adding Viconia(she is already in my group and I am trying to keep her since my main character is romancing her. The problem came when after completing the Unseeing Eye quest, as she immediately got ticked off and left).

MINOR SPOILERS...
And what is wrong with killing random peasants?!?
You could also try: Stealing and getting caught. Then you can kill the person that catches you.
Later in the game you can change into the Slayer, which gives a rep hit each time.
In a variation on the theme, you can change into the Slayer, and then kill random peasants and storekeeps.
Its not only the peasants. Killing noblemen and women is another option worth looking in to.
Some quests include an evil option / outcome, although its generally accepted that there are too few of these in the game.
Shadowkeeper can also help with your reputation, but that may not be to your taste.
If you are open to trying mods, one of the well established ones I think has an option to stop your party members leaving, regardless of feuds or reputation.
Of course - you could romance Jaheira instead...

@Blue Boo, welcome to the forums.
After you've completed an area outside of town, where you won't be returning, try pickpocketing a peasant, and make sure you don't succeed.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Yeah, knocking off a nobleman would be acceptable. I will see if I can find one that I find particularly worthy of being eliminated, I will try to tick him off by pickpocketing him to see how that goes. I will just have to find an isolated one so I don't get a mass of people coming after me seeking to drive my repuation even lower by jumping on my sword. Or if I have to find a random peasant, well that will work too, but I wanted to know if there was some other idea I had not heard of.
I had forgotten about the Slayer option but I am not to that point yet. In my first couple times going through the game, I have made chapter 2 really long by going around and completing as many of the quests as possible to get equipment and level ups. But by the time my reputation is rebuilt, I will have that available to me.
As for Jaheira, I do plan on trying her romance on my third time through but my first time through, I did the Aerie romance, so I am trying the Viconia romance this time.
Does anyone know which mod that is that prevents people from leaving? I was planning on trying mods later on but if I am unable to get around this situation in an acceptable manner.
And thanks for the welcome fable.

Try here... there are two options: Happy Group and Evil Dialogues Override. I've never used those, but they seem to be effective.

If you choose to kill someone, make sure it's someone nameless, or you might be screwing up a future quest.
Or you might download Shadowkeeper. It's a game editor which allows you to change almost anything. Using this too much will prety much ruïn your game experience though. But as a last resort, it's very useful.

Do the Buried Alive quest (spoilers)
Go to the graveyard and find the guy that's been buried alive - he gives you a red piece of cloth. Talk to the grounds keeper and ask who he's been helping to bury people alive. The clue takes you to the bridge district. Find the guy dressed it the red robe and question him. He runs into a building. Follow him in and kill the kidnappers (usually they flee but you can hunt them down). Go upstairs and talk to the kidnap victim. Tell her you won't release her. Find the note and go to the ransom meeting (outside the Copper Coronet in the slums). Ransom the woman (you get the silver pantaloons) and lose 2 rep points on the spot. Besides you will want those pantaloons, and the gold pantaloons from BG1, for a quest in ToB.
If you didn't bring the gold pantaloons with you from BG1 you can use CLUAConsole to put them in your inventory or you can use a game editor like Shadow Keeper to put them into your inventory.

Apologies for bumping this not-really-that-old thread, I really didn’t see the need to create another one.
Like Blue Boo, I'm having trouble keeping my reputation where I want it to be (gross lack of evil subquests in the game). With five neutral party members, there are mumblings 'tween my companions about the lack of balance in the party.
Getting down to the business end of my post, I'd like to avoid slaughtering defenceless bourgeoisie at all costs. Alas, it concerns me when the dialogue warns that a willing transformation of my PC into the Slayer will 'come at a price', so all I really want to know is if there are any other permanent effects on my PC or the party other than just a reputation loss?
Cheers,
Salles.
