Question about ShadowKeeper

Post by Boris »

Is it possible to remove NPCs from the party using Shadoweeper?
I can't find any "delete" option...

BTW, the reason I need to do this is that I'm actually playing BG via the BGII game engine and want to drop Dynaheir without Minsc also leaving. SK allows the Save file to be edited, but...

Alternatively, is there a CLUA code that would do te job for me?

Any help much appreciated,

B.

I don't know if this would work with the BG2 engine pack, but the dirty old trick for "separating the inseparable" is to reform party in a map/room you don't need to enter again and leave. This way Dynaheir or whoever you were kicking out cannot follow you and initiate dialog, which does the trick.

I don't think you can drop party members through SK/GK, but my knowledge of those programs is superficial...

You might also try importing your game into a multiplayer game, saving, and moving the reformed game back into the original save folder (this is the way you add custom NPCs, it should work for dropping ones you don't want...)

Hmm...

I don't think you can do it through CLUA or SK.

Your best bet is likely the abandoned room one Kaitsuburi mentioned. Enter a room with just the character you want to ditch, disband them, and their inabilty to use doorknobs saves the day - so long as you NEVER return to that room. ;)
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Many thanks for the clever suggestions.

The door-closing trick seems to have worked, though it took a wee while to find the right kind of door!

Maybe that should be added to the song "50 ways to leave your lover" -

"Just lock her in a room, soon
And set your Minsc free!"

Thanks again,

B.

If you really want to be sure, you could always send her into battle with no protection at all. she's sure to be killed, and then you can just add a different NPC.

A couple of problems with that -

1) A really basic issue which I've never explored. If a party char gets moderately killed, they're still in the party (though greyed-out, dead, etc.) I've often wondered what would happen if they were reomved at that point, but have never tried on a/c of Point 2...

2) I'm playing a goodie-good & take the role-playing aspect of the game seriously - it all gets a bit tawdry, mechanistic & pointless, otherwise. So I can rationalise that D. decided to stay behind to persue her career in needlework, but not deliberately send her off to a hopeless death, or fail to attempt to ressurect any fallen fellow.

Mind you, I was getting so frustrated at having a fixed party (I also have the inseperable J & K, and couldn't possibly drop my bestest friend, Imoen) that I wouldn't've minded too much if somebody had, say, fallen off a cliff...

Thanks for the thought, anyway, oh Crispy Amphibian.
